Hi there,

I've just bought my first model gun, a Glock 17 (3rd Gen.) by Tanaka Works.

Would like to know how best to clean and maintain it please as i've never owned a real firearm or model one. Also, cleaning and maintenance for the cartridges.

Your help is much appreciated.

Hi all,
I have a question about cleaning a Tanaka Glock 17.
Especially the magazine.
How do you strip the magazine for cleaning ?
Or maybe it is not necessary to clean AND oil it after each use since it is mainly made of plastic ?

It is kind of a pain to remove the floorplate to strip the mag in my opinion. If you look on youtube you can see how a real one is taken down and it is pretty similar. Got to squeeze the body a little and push the plate off.
I've only removed the plate because I was experimenting with spring tension. I usually don't strip my modelgun mags for cleaning. I do make sure I get them cleaned very well outside and what I can reach on the inside by slightly depressing the follower and using a cotton swab. I then spray silicone oil inside.
