just wanted to let you guys know i got my first model gun today. it is the marushin government m1911a1 hw. it only took 2 days to get here from japan... which is pretty funny since i ordered caps from missouri at the same time, and those arent here yet. i cant wait to fire the gun, i am already hooked and i havent even fired it yet! i dont think i've put it down since it arrived... i think next i will need to get an smg, cause i am going to definately need something full auto... maybe a MAC 11? or an UZI? what about the MGC Colt M725 Carbine thats at den trinity for $143? this could get out of hand, i already want an extra clip and more shells for the 1911. i dont know what i'm going to do, i might have to sell off my airsoft guns... i think i might need to have a shotgun as well....

Congrats october, now have have bought your first one you will not be able to stop.
I have a marushin 45 it is a great model a little light but fires well, watch those rounds though they eject about 6ft and if they hit the wall they will mark it.
Also some advise on the rounds, get a cotton bud and lightly oil it then swab lightly the inside of the round this will aid in the round functioning correctly and avoid jams, also after each time you fire quickly give the inside of the round a clean with the cotton bud and lightly lube again.
The uzi is a great model all metal heavy very realistic, you cannot get new mags for it though which can be a problem.
The ingram is superb but i prefer the old type rounds over the new ones.
I would reccommend the MP40 this is an excellent model even in plastic it looks and works great, however i would suggest getting it pre-built as building it yourself can cause problems.
welcome to the club and let us know how it fires when you get the caps

Ya, the good old modelgun addiction! I know all about that! Been there done that!
When firing modelguns just be sure to clean them as much as possible after firing them! Hot water and oil will help to keep your modelguns in great shape (be sure to wipe the magazine down with a wet rag as the phosphorus "smoke" generated by the caps will rust the magazine a little overnite)
Also, get some vingar and some baking soda mix the vingar with some hot water and then placing the cartridges (or gun parts) in the water/vingar, pour some (not too much!) baking soda in this will foam up so be sure to have a deep enough container to prevent over spill this solution will clean off the phosphorus residue nicely. Then I like to rinse the parts, cartridges etc. off under hot tap water and then blow-dry the parts, cartridges etc. and then oil and re assemble them.
The Marushin MP40 is a great model and I have had several they are a good choice although, they can be a pain to assemble..
The Uzi is great too but they are hard to find at the moment as Marushin hasn't produced them for a while and so you have to locate them used this situation usually leads to high prices...
Get the MGC M725! it is a superior modelgun at that price it is a steal! don't hesitate!
I agree that the Marushin M1911A1 government model is too light and needs more weight...Marushin could make some of the parts out of zinc like the inner frame piece that currently is made out of ABS instead of HW plastic or zinc.
Watch the O-rings in the Marushin HW cartridges they can be tricky to place right and a little silicone works on them too..

i cant imagine that unless they are all metal or full of weights that any of the guns are going to weigh as much a real one... though it does weigh more than my airsoft 1911's (especially w/ the clip and shells) one thing though, the mag fits really tight going in and out of the gun. i have to really pull it to get it out. i think it is the actual plastic squeezing against the mag. i have already dissasembled and reassembled the gun and it still fits tight.... any ideas?

Ya, the Marushin Magazines always seem to have some dragging issues I don't know if it is just the plastic or the magazine that is causing the dragging problem..
Both my Marushin Colt combat commander and my PPK/S Walther seem to have the magazine problem (both where kit built)
You might oil the magazine body lightly and see if it helps. Otherwise, lightly sand inside the frame to see if there is any burrs..

i did some sanding when i had it apart, no burrs... the drag is near the top, its fine til it gets past the catch (even with the catch held in) maybe it will loosen up over time...

I think that Marushin used a really soft version of the HW ABS mix on the frame and this affects the magazine insertion which we have the problem with.. This "soft" ABS frame is necessary due to Marushins assembly technique this is especially evident when assembling the kit..
The top part of the frame needs to be spread appart to insert the inner frame if the frame was as hard as the MGC ABS frame, it would crack while inserting this part.
This inner frame might be the problem as the magazine might be hitting this on the way in..
It's too bad that the magazines aren't interchangeable I would love it if they where!

Damn it, I am adiccted too ... I started with the Marushin XM 177 E2 kit in February as I always loved the original XM 177/CAR-15 series. I thought I would cool down having it, but it went the other way. Now I have six Marushin ABS pistols too. I went to my Doctor recently but he told me there is no cure ...

Yes, I know what you mean MadMike, I thought all I was going to need was a single modelgun, an MGC "68" MP40! Then the modelgun hobby drew me in and I can't escape!
It is an expensive time consuming hobby that usually cannot be shared with many people (outside of Japan or this forum) but that doesn't stop us! We buy more and more but, that's ok as we enjoy these modelguns..
Your doctor is right, there is no cure!

Well, I think (but, I am not really sure) that MGC's holsters where made by Safariland etc. And they here just stamped with MGC's logo and their name on the back of the holster. MGC offered a whole range of holsters from really simple types to competition holsters.

Well, I think that it would be cool at the range to have some one comment on my holster and be suprised on who the maker was! Besides the MGC holsters are part of collecting modelguns to me not buying real gun parts/accessories for modelguns to make them more realistic..I can obtain real holsters etc just by going to gun shops/sporting goods stores tomorrow but, the MGC holsters are nowhere to be found. Also, having MGC holsters for my MGC modelguns just complete my MGC collection.
