| Post by ricks It seems like the manufacturers always design their own proprietary cartridges for their guns. Has anyone ever compiled a substitution chart, list, etc. as to what-fits-what? It would seem that some of the cartridges are so close dimensionally that they could be used interchangeably.
Since some carts are getting more & more expensive & hard to find, this may benefit quite a few of us.
Apologies in advance if it's been done & I'm just not doing a proper search... _________________ Rick | |

| Post by Spencerman I dont think that it has been done, I havent noticed it compiled comprehensively anywhere. It is a good idea. It would indeed be a great benefit to all to know whether mgc 9mm rounds can be used in other models without modification, or with modification, as with the p220 rounds that seem to fit everything and improve performance above the original cartridge! It would be a good section to have, maybe, with catergories for each cartrige type. I cannot see an easier way of doing it, if you were to list models then it would probably be harder to cross reference. Maybe it needs the data to be compiled over a set period of time and then a chart published with the results? I dont know the easiest way, I am not too overly tech orientated, I struggle to use a camera! But I do think that it is a great idea. Especially as I have often wondered if mgc M4 rounds would work in Marushin M16 etc. Great idea, and hopefully there will be some good suggestions as to the beat way to make it work. _________________ | |

| Good Idea!
It would be worth noting too if detonator pins need modifying, and how, to accomodate different rounds.
e.g. Marushin UZI accepts the MGC p220 rounds but the det pin has to be shortened accordingly. I have a modified pin so I can measure that up later.
Some Hudson modelguns will accept MGC rounds but the det pins need shortening slightly. M3A1 Grease Gun takes MGC.45ACP Thompson rounds e.g.
I was advised against using MGC p220 rounds in my Marushin ABS MP40 as the ABS bolt may not be strong enough so a change ain't always a good idea.
A list like Rick suggests would be really useful especially if MGC rounds get scarce at any time.

| Post by 8ace It's a great idea. This site does give a lot of information on cartridges and I was wondering if it is possible to combine the two http://members14.tsukaeru.net/toku/sub%20cart%20page1.html If the cartridge dimensions are known it should be easier to come up with substitutes 8ace | |
