| Post by rizzo Hello chaps,
Just wondering what is the best method for removing paint from metal modelgun parts? I've managed to file off paint from some parts to achieve a shiny silver finish (hurrah) but this won'twork for some parts due to their shape. Any ideas? | |

| Post by Mark Hi rizzo,
Paint on the metal parts? Did someone paint your second hand modelguns? I suppose that you are not refering to the bluing on the parts I.E. the black finish right? Anyway, the absolutely best method is to use a glass-beading cabinet or sand blasting. Have you tried paint stripper? they have some really good stuff out there that takes all sorts of paint off in seconds! _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by rizzo I assumed it was paint I'm removing the 'finish' of some metal parts on my 1911, just to make it look good :p I'm having an aluminium (cleared with the Home Office) barrel made for it (got tired of the plastic ones snapping) and this will be silver and so i wanted other matching parts I've used a fine file so far, and it's worked well, but the finish is quite rough. I've been told to use glass wool to make the finish smooth. ALso, i assume the metal parts on mgc guns are made from zinc, does zinc tarnish at all when exposed to air? many thanks Joe | |

| Post by John I have this Haw San .45. It is OK. The marking is poor. But full metal is irresistable, never match by any plastics. I always say this. | |

| Post by Mark John, i too like the feel and the weight of the metal modelguns but, most of the Japanese metal pistols can't fire caps so, i try not to collect the non-firing display only dummy metal modelguns. In my case, it has allot to do with my real gun collection than anything else. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)
