Genuine Furniture, CUTTS and LYMAN Sight on MGC

After a lot of faff, my MGC has been upgraded somewhat.

Real butt, pistol grip and horizontal front grip added. All needed some tinkering as holes don’t line up and the metal push button slide on the stock needed adaptation and thinning out to fit the MGC stock.

The CUTTS compensator was not easy to find and came without the front sight. A new one had to be made. The size difference between an MGC and genuine CUTTS is evident. I believe an AIRSOFT company actually made CUTTS Compensators too but these are equally hard to find.

The LYMAN sight is also genuine. Much easier to fit.

I’m now doing some work on the ‘vertical’ front grip to have it look more genuine. Reproductions tend to be very slab sided. It will be fitted with an SMLE sing swivel on the right hand side which was common for Thompsons SMGs in British and Commonwealth service.

I need to move the sling swivel attachment on the horizontal grip. This is because a lot of Thompsons used by British and Comminwealth troops had sling swivels moved. You can see the butt stock is already adapted and is genuine and has the sling swivel on the top of the butt (the sling swivels came from the factory positioned at the bottom of the butt).

All in all I’m very happy. I’d love to find a suitable durable solution to have that greenish browning over grey hue of parkerised finish and also get the side engraved with THOMPSON lettering etc but this may be a bridge too far. Additionally I may look to rub down some moulding seam lines…
