It depends on the blanks you intend to use and the weight of the bolt.
I have a couple of Thompsons that run on very hot loads (Swanson or ISS FF blanks), because they have a heavy bolt, and it's preferable to have a high rate of fire and big muzzle flash in movies.
If these were for reenacting purposes you'd probably want a more realistic rate of fire and a load that wouldn't potentially damage the gun with extensive use, Atlantic Wall SMG blanks for example.
Also, is your blank firer an adapted real gun, or a BFONG with some parts that are not quite as sturdy of manufacture?
The blank firing barrels I bought, replaced out the original barrels, and come with three BFA's with different sized orifices. '
The M1 Thompson is a solid lump and I don't really worry about it rattling to pieces, also this one is a dealer sample gun, so not the same value as a transferable piece.

We did break the ejector on this gun on this show, about thirty minutes prior to this still image. But I think this was because the one piece FBP bolt and ejector I run in it had simple become beat up over time.
