Hey all,

Okay so I'm still getting the hang of modelguns, since most of my expertise was in classic airsoft guns. I have a few questions that need answering so here it goes,

1. When did marushin make the change from its usual side fire systems to the centerfire systems?(year)

2. Which modelguns have the offcenter barrel, and does the offcenter barrel also apply to the newer semi auto pistols.(post 1990 production)

Thank you all for your time.

Well, Marushin still produces the side fire modelguns in several configurations. I do believe that they started to make the center fire models in 1992-93. The exact date is still unknown to me at this time as I have yet to see any real history on Marushin.
Marushin occasionally makes changes to their modelgun line and these changes are usually converting them over to center fire. Many of Marushin's modelgun offerings are impractical to convert over to the centerfire due to their internal designs. The M16 comes to mind as well as their other all metal modelguns perhaps, this is due to their zinc construction/Japanese law(s)

I also don't quite understand your reference to the "offcenter barrel" Perhaps you refer to the high carbon steel block that is off set in the barrels bore. Every all-metal, handgun replica (modelgun) made in Japan after 1972 has to have the barrel permanently blocked with solid zinc with a high carbon steel rod cast into it to ensure that the barrel cannot be drilled out.
