| Post by 2sharp Does anyone have information regarding an old (30-ish years) model gun marked "M1911A1 NO.G 8853 MALUGO" and "COLT GOVERNMENT AUTOMATIC PISTOL CAL. 45" on the slide? And the Colt horse is apparently present too.. Not in my hands but i got curious... _________________ I need more model guns... | Post by Mark MALUGO? Fascinating! That's a very interesting name and I cannot remember seeing that name anywhere. Perhaps HIGUsan or Shazib can help us with the name identifacation. It most certainally belongs to a defunct, early modelgun manufacturer. Or perhaps, it is a name that was used before the company was properly named (I.E. Kokusai,Nakata etc.)
Cool! Is there any links, etc to see this modelgun? _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

http://www.malugo.com/ DOC Yep, I just did a quick search and found that site. But, still the name "malugo" stamped into the slide is interesting to me as I rather doubt that the modelgun dealer "Malugo" would stamp their "malugo" trademark on their product before shipping them. So, not quite sure just what Malugo is all about...

| Post by HIGUsan Hi Mark, I can put picture now. Thank you! This picture is Malugo's ad in 1974. Malugo had sold some original modelguns before. Every model made of metal on this picture. Strenge shape M1911A1, we call it Sperm whale. LS made plastic model kit from this. M1910 and PPK are copy of MGC's. | |

| Post by MarkThanks for the picture HIGUsan! Wow! I had no idea that Malugo existed! - HIGUsan wrote:

That's what I thought! It looks exactly like the LS model kit that I had I always thought that the LS models did not look quite correct...Anyway, the fact that some of the modelguns that where produced, where made by Malugo answers some of the earlier modelgun questions that I had. I notice that the Walther PP has a heel mounted magazine catch that doesn't look right and the M73 "Winchester" looks very much like a MGC too..

| Post by 2sharp Most interesting HIGUsan Thanks a lot for the reply! I found 2 old and broken 1911's on a Swedish auction site and i was just curious. Looks like it is not worth bidding on though. I did have a thought about it looking like the LS model too, funny, seems that most of us has the same "model gun" background The LS kits very fun to build though... _________________ I need more model guns... | Post by HIGUsan Hi 2Sharp, Yes, I think it is not worth bidding, too. I wonder who bought such good shape M1911A1.
Malugo M73 is not MGC's copy. It has toggle locking mechanism. MGC M73 has no locking mechanism, only hold bolt by loading lever directly. Some of real PP 9 mm model has mag catch on heel. M73 and PP were designed by Mr. Mutobe.

| Post by 2sharp They were plastic kit models, you had to glue the parts together. The slides were in 2 parts for example. They had quite an assortment of various models and i had great fun in building those at a young age The quality of the models and the plastic used were so-so in my opinion and i usually messed them up pretty quick. I did find one of the LS products sheets the other day while rummaging through an old box. (also found a Marui model gun kit product booklet) It did bring back some nice memories. Sad to say i don't have any scanner so i can't get it posted... _________________ I need more model guns... The holy quest for modelgun information and knowledge will never-ever end!! | |

| Post by Spencerman Thanks HIGUsan for that. They look great, what a shame they went out of business. Then again, maybe it is not so bad after all, I have a funny feeling that if they were still around then I would be pretty skint by now! I have never seen a Smith & Wesson model 29 with a 10" barrel before! Wow. I would have liked one of those. I had an 8", but never saw a 10" (barrel length). I think that I would have liked those, and so many to choose from. I would have probably got through a few of the peacemakers with ease. _________________ | |
