| Subject: Wiser to sell my MGC M4A1? Sun Aug 31, 2008 10:26 am | |
| Post by weekf Hi guys,
I have since sold many of my modelguns except this MGC M4A1 that I have for about a year. This is the very last one that I have and there is someone interested in it willing to pay big bucks for it.
So my question is: Do I sell it off and won't be able to find it ever again in future? It was a rare occasion I bought it and am pretty sure if I sold this off there will be no way for me to get another one in future. So what would you guys do if you were in my position? I don't have any financial difficulty do you guys suggest I just keep it and may be sell it off in future when I need money and the price for it will rise even more when production ceased?
What about falling of price. Since the US will be introducing the SCAR rifles and the AR series will become obsolete and no one will like the old AR in future hence the drop of price.
Any comment/idea will be appreciated. Thanks.

| Post by MadMike Hi Weekf!
First of all, it is your call. But you should bear in mind that MGC has stopped the production of the M4A1, so it will get harder to get those modelguns in the future. If you are not in need for the money and not fed up by the modelgun, so why should you sell it now?
If it is in full working order and complete, it will keep its value. Bear in mind that it is a collectors item, not a real firearm where performance and modern technology matters. The real M4 is a up to date assault Carbine, and it will stay in service worldwide for many years. But even when the original is phased out, a modelgun will keep its attractiveness. Think about the old MGC Sterling or Marushins full metal UZI, both are no longer produced and sought after collectors piecies despite the fact that the original gun is no longer up to date (don´t get me wrong, they are still very good guns, but no longer in use by first line military units).
I can only speak for myself, but as long as the world will turn and I will be able to afford it, I will keep mine.

| Post by Mark With modelgun importation into Australia (as well as all firearms replicas/otherwise) being strictly controlled by your government, its hard to get any new modelguns etc. So, like MadMike says, its your call on this one...I rarely sell my modelguns due to the trouble of replacing them is usually too much as well as they are also too expensive in many cases to replace after the fact.
The M16 will be replaced in the next few years but, the system will remain viable and be both a primary and secondary weapon system into the future. So, they won't fade out too fast! _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by weekf No way these type of replica can be imported into Australia. But it is totally legal to own them. They will not allow them in but as long as they are already in the country there is no problem buying them here. I paid a lot for it and now someone is willing to pay double the price.
I guess I will just keep it then.

| Like anything else, once it's gone, the money you got for is spent and gone, you're left with nothing but empty space and regrets. Keep it, even if you only pick it up or take it out of it's box once a year, it's still there and yours.
Bloody Hell Mate, we're gettin all sentimental now, Cheer Up, keep your gun, they're gettin scarce now, women on the other hand are everywhere...

| Post by Mark Hi Cerwyn! Sorry, I cannot recomend any sheep myself The old joke about sheep in Montana is brought up from time to time its probably just as old as any Welsh sheep jokes out there! Anyway, Weekf, it is too bad that your government has taken away simple toys in their "anti-violence" campaign or whatever they call it. But, much like the anti-gun efforts in many countries their overzelous tactics amount to the criminals having free-run of the place and citizens that the laws where ment to protect are simply out of luck...Modelguns should be allowed in all countries not just a few... _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still) MGC MP40 Marushin MP40 Nakata MP40 TRC MP40 Modelgun manufacturers, past and present:CMC,CAW,Hudson,HWS,LS,MGC(R.I.P. 1960's~2007) Marushin,Marui,Kokusai,Shoei,Tanaka and Western Arms | |

| Post by weekf Thanks for comforting me MadMike. I am just thinking of getting another Springfield Armory 9mm Stainless right now. Have already got a Beretta 92FS. Strange I am just fond of all metal construction pistol not really interested in the polymer frame pistols.
Paid AUD1,295.00 for the 92fs and the SA 9mm price is AUD1,495.00 It is high on my next wanted list. Too bad we can't have 45ACP or 44Mag here in Australia.
