Yes, MGC has made a few variants without the forward assist. These where mostly ABS and I doubt that they made any with HW plastic. I think that the versions where the M16 "Vietnam" and the GAU SMG that the AirForce issued.

These MGC M16's are fairly rare today. But, they do exist.

The first AR-15s issued to the Army did not yet have the forward assist. Also the Air Force never adopted this device with their A1 versions as it was rendered not necessary, so there are more and later versions of the M16 (today mostly carbines) in use with the USAF lacking the forward assist.
MGC made quite a lot ABS CP AR-15s, with and without FA. They called it "Army" (with FA) or "Air Force" (w/o FA) series:

Here comes a scan of an old MGC catalog, showing the "Air Force Series":

M16 IMG-m16-21

And here is a photo that shows the right side of the receiver of a MGC M656 carbine. (I doubt if this version was really in use by the US Air Force. If it was built, it was most likely for export purposes. MGC did not stamp "Property of US Govt" on this models, just a Colt-horse and "MOD. 656 - CAL. 5.56 MM - 4267970"):
