| Post by Stinger Disclaimer: This is a MODELgun - NOT a real weapon - nothing in these pictures are illegal or dangerous. It's just a toy... but it looks damn cool A modified one that is... I've always LOVED flat-top recievers. So it was natural to have the carryhandle removed. A mountrail was installed instead and I'm extremly impressed with the result. First picture is the rifle in a more assultoriented style. Original handguard, but with 30 round mag with OD magpul for easier magchange, flip up rear sight (adjustable with two sighttypes - close and distant) and a tactical 30 round mag pouch on the stock. The rifle has a metal flashhider. (included for effect is an 100 round M249 SAW pouch. The other picture is the XM in a more tactical sniper version. The stock is fitted with an OD recoilpad that also extends the stock with 1". It has a 20 round mag and a shellcatcher. It has a red/green dot scope with 10 different brightnesses (5 for each color) The handguard has been replaced with a railmount handguard and a silencer puts the icing on the cake. | Certainly does look good doesn't it? Is it Marushin's or MGC's model please?
I still think the 30rd magazines make these M16 types look a load better, the 20rd one just looks too short somehow!

| Post by Stinger It's the Marushin metal version. Very solid and nice. For a sniper version I like the 20round mag. I also noticed that you can buy 5 and 10 round mags. | |

| I elieve, although I could well be mistaken, that 5 and 10 round mags are made for the US market to satisfy differing State Laws on Magazine capacity. MadMike will know, he's THE MAN when it comes to AR-15's ! I'm sure he told me that 2, yes, 2 round mags are available for some States!
How do you find your un fires? Does it perform well? Have you found the secret to getting them to fire consistently in full auto?

| Post by MadMike Yeah, there are 2 round magazines for civilian AR-15s used by hunters in Germany ... I am quite sure that the 5 and 10 round mags are for civilian use only. The 10 round mags look very similar like the 20 round mags and are not really smaller, but only one stack. But there are also curved 10 round mags. _________________ "It's a hardball world, son. | Post by Stinger I won't have any cartridges for a few days so I don't know how it fires yet. But it's more of a collectors piece so it won't be fired that much at all.
I've also heard of the 2 round mags. Many places here in Europe, owning a RS assultrifle has MANY restrictions.
Not only will an AR15 cost you more than £3000 (5000$) you will also have to have the magazine modified to fit ONLY 2 rounds and then solded permanetly into the gun. The two round can then inserted through a hole cut into the magazine.
That really ruins a lot and only a few people bothers to buy them.

| Hi Stinger,
I was just reading through the Review section and found "M16 shooting Impressions" Worth a read if you need some tips on getting yours to fire nicely.

| Post by Stinger Yeah - the mountrail handguard is a very nice touch and it also feels way more secure and tight than the plasticguard.
It's RS but fits perfectly and is not that expensive at all. I've seen mountrails for more than 500$ and this is more like $50.

| Post by Stinger Pictures are back up. I now have fitted a M4 flash-hider on the rifle. But not taken a picture of it yet.
I also got a nice digital camera, so I will try to take some new pics later. The ones you see here are taken with my mobile.
