In Predator you can in quite some scenes clearly see the muzzle attachment to increase the recoil on the guns. It may be that I've seen Predator just way too many times, but I haven't really noticed it that much in other movies. Of course, there is a lot of exceptionally good gun scenes in Predator
Notice the muzzle attachment is glowing red after Mac fires a few bursts with the M60

You are not the only one to have noticed that. I noticed it the first time I watched the film, along with the 'extra' arm when Carl Weathers turns after having his blown off, although this has been rectified in the dvd version. I always assumed that this piece in the barrel was like a blank adaptor, so that they could not fire real live rounds from the guns, and yet still allow a muzzle flash.
