They couldn't punch through the badguys body aromor with shotties and handguns, so they got rifles/carbines that has more power and penetration.

Oh okay, I got it. Well, you mean, they do in the film ? Don't think so, a while I saw it but don't remember about that detail.

If you meant for real, that's odd, they pretty have any gun they want in the police, they have guns, drugs, money, all you want

No, for real. The real police were really outgunned and got guns and ammo from the local gun store. Remember that this was in the middle of a shootout. No time to wait for back up or for reinforcements to arrive, they were being gunned down. It was a little like the shootout in Heat, which was the starting topic for this thread. They were outgunned at the time. The opening scene in SWAT was loosley based around these events. Maybe someone could find the video clip from the news (Reemo, you are pretty good at this!) and post it here. As unbeliveable as it may sound. Another one that springs to mind is the bank robbery scene from the original Thomas Crown Affair. Although not loads of gun play, a pretty good scene.

The shootout was at the Bank America in North Hollywood. And i got a newsclip for you guys:

Saw this on something like bravo a while ago, it was pretty crazy n they had a lot more footage than this. Some of it might of been a re-enactment though like on Shootout.

I had just moved away from California when that shootout happened. That Bank of Amrica was 30 mins from my house there.

You want to see the BEST coverage or footage of this shootout??

FIND the video/DVD of "Cops, Scariest police shootouts" which has AWESOME coverage of the incident.

The first on scene is a Spanish TV news crew who THOUGHT the bad guys were actually the cops!! The newsreporter is actually in a parking lot with one of the gunmen, creeping closer to him, and what he thought was the "safety" of the law.....WRONG!!

Suddenly AK bullets are pinging off the lamp poles around him and off of cars! He figures out pretty quickly that this isnt a cop!! (all of this is on video)

BEST SCENE???
The last gunman standing lets loose a full mag of .308 from his G3......POINT BLANK into the cop cars 20 feet away........the footage is from above (from a helicopter) and the audio is just AWESOME!! If you never fired a H&K G3, it will rattle your fillings out. "Boom-boom-boom-boom...."

Interesting notes you wont find on many websites or videos??
One of the gunmen commits suicide with an M9 pistol.......the airborne sniper didnt kill him as news reports told.

Also, the other gunman (though mortally wounded) was still clinging to life when EMT's arrived........cops there REFUSED to let the EMT's do their job, and instead, let the gunman "bleed out" on the pavement...."let him die" is what all the cops there said.

There was a lawsuit (if you can belive it) from the surviving family of that gunman....of course she lost.

LAST NOTES ON THE GUNMEN...
I saw photos of these guys.....not at ALL what I pictured......they were both real genuine "Banditos" from Mexico (Gold front teeth and all)...SCARY looking individuals who had robbed dozens of bank trucks.....bank robbery was not their usual thing.

Yeah, the COPS video (I know, what is a VCR?? ) or DVD has coverage and footage I never saw before.....especially what the Spanish news crew filmed......you HEAR the rounds pinging off the lamp poles.......the news reporter thought for sure he was dead.

Also.......WATCH the footage when the gunmen are walking down the street firing........a cop shoots one from behind with a shotgun (slug) almost point blank.......he stumbles forward but doesn't go down. There is slow-motion footage of this.

I just cant believe that NOT ONE COP could get off a head shot. (WTF?)

Just watch for the video of the last guy dumping his G3 at the cops......I know its wrong to shoot at cops, ( ) but if you are a gun lover, you will love this.......as good as Deniro firing FORWARD through his own windshield at the cops in HEAT!

That G3 is terrifying.

FOUND IT!

You guys are in for a treat - this is the COPS video for free......North Hollywood shootout.

It has been slightly shortened and the audio sucks but it is 90% of what is on the cops DVD.

And you thought HEAT was "unrealistic" in the way cops and bad guys had no respect for innocent bystanders?!?! WATCH THIS!

Its the freakin "OK corral" and anybody in the way is going down!!
