makes an interesting read

Quote :
Hundreds of guns have been found in a semi-detached house in one of the Metropolitan Police's biggest ever weapons seizures.
Pump-action shotguns, M16 rifles, revolvers and antique firearms were among weapons seized during raids on three properties in Dartford, Kent.
Most were found in one house, where a 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying guns.
A second man was questioned in linked raids in the United States.
The UK raids were part of an 18-month inquiry into gang shootings in north London and were carried out by Operation Trident, the specialist unit which investigates gun crime in London's black community.
Most weapons, which also included automatic and semi-automatic weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition, were found at the house, which is believed to belong to a registered gun dealer.

I have never seen anything like it
Det Ch Supt Kevin Davis
Q&A: Operation Trident
Detectives said some weapons may be legal, others may not.
Weapons were found in every room apart from the bathroom, mounted on walls, left on the floor, or propped up against walls.
Det Ch Supt Kevin Davis, from Operation Trident, said: "This is the biggest firearms haul we (Operation Trident) have ever had.
"The premises raided were used to store hundreds and hundreds of weapons. I have never seen anything like it.

"There are guns everywhere. It will take us at least three days to log it all and bag up the evidence."
Four guns were found at another home while no weapons were found at the third property - business premises, but police said a substantial sum of cash was found at all three.
Another suspect was held in the US state of New Jersey by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which has been liaising with the Metropolitan Police (Met).
Special Agent Rich Marianos said: "We have been, during the last eight months, working in conjunction with the UK authorities on an international weapons trafficking investigation.
"Today in the US, ATF is conducting follow-up investigative efforts in support of the UK's raid in Kent."

Hmmmmm...... gun dealer found to have a large amount of guns !!!!!!!! my God he should be shot !!

Seriously though if he has been "naughty" with them then it certainly is best if he`s not allowed to do this any more.

A registered gun dealer who keeps his guns laying around on the floor in a house? He should be shot twice!

After hearing this I must now support the anti gun bill about banning all replica guns, I wouldnt want a replica gun to fall into that mans hands, it could make him dangerous.

But seriously, a big congratulations to our thin blue line for a job well done and getting the real dangerous guns off of our streets. Hopefully the courts will make a sensible judgement about the sentenses these people should serve.

Sheeesshhh... That's a seizure ! Huge weapons cache found in London Area... Icon_lol

How could he need so many of them, anyway, though it's sure, as u said spence, that's a good thing, but I don't think that'll make the uk government go softer on replicas and all...

Maybe the guy had some link to a terrorist attack or somethin planned in London, who knows, I learned during the last months that London has many weapons stashes in town, that's kinda odd for the only country in the world not to have armed cops Huge weapons cache found in London Area... What a pleasure I could have lived if I had spotted all of those Huge weapons cache found in London Area... Icon_biggrin

Legal or illegal in the eyes of the hysterical general public all that matters is they were guns-all guns are evil therefore all people who own guns are crazed gun nuts.

Just more ammunition(excuse the pun)for the anti gun brigade.I agree 100% that this guy deserves all he gets but even if the found a waterpistol and a potato gun the press would still trump up the story. Huge weapons cache found in London Area... Icon_cry

as far as i can assertain, the main collection was of over 900 historically significant antique firearms. i think this is mainly media hype, even the police admit that the majority of weapons siezed may turn out to be legitimate and within the bounds of his licence.
unfortunately the illegal firearms users of this world do not go to registered gun dealers.

Let's suppose for a moment, for argument's sake, that they were all legally held... he's still incredibly irresponsible for leaving them lying around like that. Even if he was just collecting, if he had no ill intent, what if he was burgled? What a dickhead.

aparently the man in question is mick of micks guns his web site is even down

http://www.micksguns.com/

the guns just lying about in a room was aparently a safe room and any guns lying about where securly fixed to the wall he has section 5 status so he could legaly keep any thing he wanted any way
as for the m16 it could be a straight pull or a .22 semi like a armi jaeger ap74 or a v22 or a armscor look alike antiqes do not need a licence and the revolvers could have been black powder guns antiques or they could be section 7.3 or 7.1 7.1 guns are to be shot on a paerticular place then left in that place for storage you are also restricted on how many rounds you can use per year section 7.3 are of almost obslite calibres (ie 455 30 luger) and can be colected but not shot or they could have just been section 5 dispach revolvers for games keepers or even deact as the last time i saw his site he had a few deacts for sal this guy seems ligit i think its just more hype by the media

And dont we all just love media hype. IF the way the facts are presented are bad, then the reaction to it will be equally bad. If you read a story about a man who killed his wife you would think what a nasty guy, but if the truth behind the story was man who killed his wife by smothering her with love, whole different kettle of fish. I have my guns lying around ... in my safe. That does not make them lying around. How would that make me an irresponsible gun owner. I keep my ammunition in a completely different and seperate place from my guns, real or replica (Old habit). How does that make me irresponsible? But technically, they are all just lying around my house! It is a shame that bad reporting can not be punished the way that bad people can. If however, he is a bad man, then well done to our coppers, if he is a good guy, like me, then never mind coppers, keep up the good work though to try and keep us all safe at night, as we can no longer shoot thieving Gyppos over here Huge weapons cache found in London Area... Don't worry Spence' same deal here anyway, it looks like we protect more burglers or delinquants than the victim in France.

To get back in the subject, like somebody said upper, to general public, people owning guns are complete murdering nutcases, so how woud you want things to get better in that case?

If the problem was that he was "leaving his weapons lying around", that's not a real 'crime' as it's seen there, you're not supposed to be visited by a burglar or something Huge weapons cache found in London Area... Icon_smile IF that's why he was arrested...

I have met Mick(the arrested dealer) a few times at Arms fairs in Bisley. He came across as a knowledgeable and nice person. I have also got some friends at my local club who have bought stuff off him. The M16s are Armi Jaeger .22s and most of his collections were antiques. The licensed weapons that were lying about were inside a safely locked gun room and not all over the house as the tabloids would like you to believe. As for the rest, there is no law against you displaying your obsolete weapons, airguns and replicas on the wall if you so wish to.

I do not know what illegal activities he was upto, but the media hype was OTT as usual with the lynch mob all set to go Huge weapons cache found in London Area... Icon_rolleyes
