This has probably been discussed before;
What is the best way to refinish the color on a zinc "Marushin" replica MP40 -- this has no markings so I'm guessing it's a Marushin, as it does not take the mags from my MGC68.
This one has almost completely lost it's color. Being almost "in the white."

The zinc modelguns can be reblued using BirchWood Caseys "Super Blue" liquid after serious surface preparation. (removing old bluing, grease, oil, silicone, paint etc.)

Could this bluing liquid be used to refinish modelguns purchased with that gold finish, that being polished back to the silver plate base?
Or would the silver have to be stripped off back to the base zinc first?

No, my understanding is that the sliver surface is the polished zinc and it does not need to be removed before the bluing is applied. In fact, the better the polish, the better the bluing!
