| Hello--can anyone else confirm this? Francky informed me that US customs announced to refuse the overseas packages on 15th if the packages weight over 453g, I don’t know why!!!
Please help--this basically means that I would be unable to import anymore Modelguns. Is this true?

| hmm...I am at a loss...this makes no sense at all. I contacted US Customs today and they said that they had no idea what I was talking about. Where is the info coming from? Can someone post a link?
JohnnyV--can you offer any suggestions as to how we can get around this?
I order from francky and Shazhib all the time...and this would kill my collection.

| No logic to it at all, commercial interests under the guise of anti terror, I guess the answer is pay more for courier service, or find another route? but there is no reason your hobby should suffer, just your wallet:(
Everything USA related gets complex at the moment, but I cannot belive the issue will go on for long, in practical terms huge volumes of extra parcels will be generated as people just "split" their packs down to 1 pound lots, I guess Japan post will open thousands of accounts over Xmas and the whole thing will become unmanageable and then back to normal:)

| Thanks Johnny-that makes me feel a bit better...at least there are some options to get around this...I guess my guns may have to be field stripped and sent in 10 different parcels Hopefully this ridiculous law will be amended after the holidays...or sooner! | |

| I checked with Japan Post today, it is true they only take up only 1 pound/pack for air parcel. If someone wants to send something heavier, then, 1) send out via few separate parcel or 2) send via boat
It seems DHL, FEDEX or those non-postal office courier companies still take up a parcel hevier than 1 pound.
Hope this won't last for long.
Regards,

| Forum member KHarris sent me the following :- Ok, after talking to 4 different branches of the US Customs. I finally got a guy who new what i was talking about on shipping packages to the US. He said that there is no restriction on packages over 1 LB. he did say that the new law means no packages can be shipped on a Passenger Plane . They must be shipped by Freight on a Cargo Plane only. this would mean shipping by Fed Ex or other Carrier overseas. but Fed ex i believe only handles business accounts overseas. _________________ Cerwyn

| All,
I just learned that 1 pound regulation on a parcel to US will be abolished from Dec 1, 2010. But it seems it may take couple days extra to get to a destination than used to be.

| One new thing that "may" have caused confusion internationally is: - Quote :
- Aviation Security Update Ink or toner cartridges
Following recent incidents with improvised explosive devices, the Secretary of State for Transport has issued directions prohibiting the carriage by air of ink or toner cartridges, with immediate effect. For the avoidance of doubt the definition of ink or toner cartridges are defined as a cartridge weighing more than 500g designed for the use in printing equipment such as printers, photocopiers and fax machines. But who really knows ???

Thanks a lot. Perhaps you would be well advised to contact websites you wish to buy products from, ask if they are under any instructions or regulations regarding importing into the US.It would possibly be worth your time contacting US Customs and Carrier companies to ask if the items you wish to import are subject to particular regulations. It would appear that recent security problems on aircraft flying into the US resulted in immediate action by US Customs and Airlines. Imposing the 1lb parcel limit may have been good in theory, but not so workable in practice. _________________ Cerwyn
