Greetings to all!

Last week, I bought a MGC68 MP40 off eBay for $75.00USD. I was hoping it was a early model but alas, it was not and has the cut bolt and has a broken off cocking handle. My main purpose was display, so, not terribly disappointed (especially given the price).

I've read through some of the topic threads here but many are several years old. Now that it is 2013, is it even possible to restore my non-firing MGC into a PFC one? If so, where would one have to go for parts and what options exist today to modify the MGC into a PFC firer?

Cheers,

Ed

Hi,
New to the forum. I have found the information here regarding the MGC68 MP40 really helpful so thanks to all.

I bought my MP40 on Speedbid for 161.00 sterling. It was in need of a little attention, rusty and the plastic fore grips were missing, as was the pull bolt.

I was fortune to find a pair of MGC 68 grips on ebay.

The bolt pull was broken off, after tapping and threading the bolt and a bit of work on the lathe I made a replacement.

It has the number 5488 on the barrel.

I cleaned it down, treated the rust and applied bluing to the barrel and body and than cleaned it back to give a worn look.

Was the MGC 68 fitted with a muzzle end nut ?  If so, it is missing and would be grateful if anyone can tell me would an original one fit.

It is now rebuilt and with a strong working action, can anyone advise where I can obtain 9mm cap blanks for the MGC68 MP40 ?

Thanks in anticipation.
Jim

161 quid, crikey what a snip. Sounds like you've done a cracking job on the restoration. Plugfirecapguns.Co.uk are a good choice for the caps and cartridges. Smile
