Does anyone know if modelgun magazines can be used in real firearms?

I know the MGC M4 can't because the front part is blocked therefore can't load real rounds. But what about those modelgun pistols magazines? For example MGC M92F magazine load real size cartridges and made of metal almost the same quality of the real magazine therefore should be able to withstand the stress of real ammunition.

The problem is you can't even have a real gun magazine here without a firearms licence and if your modelgun magazine can load real ammo and used in real firearms you are considered as in possession of real firearms magazine without a licence. And what worst it is over the legal capacity limit, say 30 or even 40 rounds using the drum magazine from MGC Thompson, 15 rounds for th

e Beretta 92 I know the post ban is over but still aren't you supposed to have them without a licence?

I have a friend in US told me the MGC Beretta M92F magazine can be fitted into the real one and he tried that but never really use it to load real ammunition and fire it because not sure of the metal material can withstand real force of real ammo but I think should be fine because magazine is not a part that will absorb the force of real ammo. Only the component in the slide need to meet the real force not those parts in the receiver I think.

Have anyone tried to put a real magazine into the MGC Beretta yet? Do they fit?

No is your answer.
Real ammo can not be used in modelgun magazines for real guns. This is for a couple of reasons. One is that the metal is not as hard as the steel or plastic used for a real firearm. Another reason is to do with the tension on the spring. In a real magazine the spring is much more powerful than the one in the model gun. The model magazine wouldnt move the bullet fast enough to feed a real gun properly. It may be possible to use one for purely display purposes if it fit into the real gun, as long as the bullet fitted into it and the magazine fits the gun, but I would never try and fire one.
It may be possible to use them the other way round depending on model. Some 1911s I know that you can. As long as the real gun magazine fits into your model, but you would need to change the spring inside first. The real ones would force the bullets up with too much tension for the model, and it would either not cycle properly, or it would break the model when it tries to.
Hope that helps.

I would have to say no they cant but i am not in a position to try. Some real mags can be converted with a bit of effort to fit modelguns but none fit without adjustments and the same problem can arise from the spring tension of the real mag which is to high for the modelgun

Hi modelgunfan,

Welcome to the Forum. Finally, someone from HK to post, after 15 months since this Forum was up.

I also have the same question for a long time. However, I'm not surprised that it won't easily fit the real guns. I have M9 & M1911 from MGC, Marushin and Haw San. The magazines are not 100% compatible to one another.

Having said that, I think there are likely some parts from modelguns could fit to the real guns, e.g. the sights, grips. You know, you could buy these real gun parts in HK freely to fit to the airsoft & modelguns.
