Just a quick note to save others the trouble.

If you own either the HUDSON Grease Gun or M1A1 Thompson, USE THE MGC INNERS.

Claymore was right.

Yes, I was able to get the Hudson Tommy to "work" on the stock Hudson 45ACP cartridges, - however, if the truth was told, the gun works FAR BETTER using the MGC internals....I must concede.

I was firing my M1A1 tonight.......after intermittent jams with the stock HUDSON brass, I loaded up 18 HUDSON rounds with the MGC internals.

All 18 rounds fired - perfect with NO jams and nice clean ejection.

That is a HUGE feat for the HUDSON Thompson
......I'm happy. Hudson THOMPSON Cartridges... Claymore was right! Icon_wink

So, listen to brother Claymore - use the MGC parts inside!

The main reason that the Hudson pistons don't work as well as the MGC designed pistons is that the Hudson pistons tend to turn in their bore after the cap is fired.

I believe the for this is that the Hudson pistons are too short in length as well as their diameter is insufficient. That, and the Hudson supplied, O-rings are also far too small. Thus, they tend to twist and jam in their bores instead of smoothly sliding back due to gas pressure. The MGC pistons are larger in diameter as well as they feature larger O-ring that positively locates the piston in the cartridge body.

Hi Mark

Yep, thats all definitely true.

They work better in the HUDSON Tommy for another reason...

The MGC inner is LONGER which doesn't allow the HUDSON cartridge to go into the chamber as far........consequently, the bolt face has an easier time "grabbing" the rear of the casing, and the extractor hooks the shell with far more consistency.

The bolt is under more spring tension at the point of "bottoming out" the cartridge then when using the Hudson inners. This helps the extraction process.

Great to see you have the Hudson thompson working well, so far i have only got 1 20 round burst off and after that i thought i had won the battle but since then its jammed constantly and the bolt face is a mess.
The mgc inners suprisingly work fine in my sten but not in any other Hudson however i use the mgc inners for the reason you say Reemo, it gives a stronger bang.
