Impossible to dispose of my 50 year old collection? Empty
PostSubject: Impossible to dispose of my 50 year old collection?   Impossible to dispose of my 50 year old collection? Icon_minitimeSun Apr 07, 2024 6:14 pm

Hello, complete newbie here, thanks for adding me to the forum.
I joined as I'm downsizing, de-cluttering, and recently found my 50 year old collection of LS models, all complete, in good condition, as they've been stored in sealed boxes in the loft.
I've read a number of sticky posts and FAQ, which suggest as these are considered RIF, it's impossible for me to sell them, or indeed post them via Royal Mail or Parcelforce.
My only option seems to be to dismantle them with a 10 pound lump hammer, and bin the scraps, which seems a real shame.
I'd appreciate it if any of the more experienced experts in the forum can suggest any other options please?
Thanks
OW

Ideally you should offer them here at a reasonable price as most members will be a member of some group that is protected from the dreaded RIF nonsense.

People seem to sell them successfully on eBay. I’d suggesting making it clear that they are model kits, and when posting just ‘declare’ as model kits. You would also probably have success in modelling forums etc. Barrack room lawyers are great at creating obstacles, and sometimes making them up. In this case I’d advertise where you can, and just post as I suggested.

Equally I’d love to see what you have, and perhaps have an opportunity to buy one - very nostalgic!

Yes I do lampwick. I have the model and instructions, without the box.  I'm unable to work out how to add an image to this post though.

Do you have the Ruger Blackhawk? See my pm for assistance in uploading images.

I send models through royal mail, i just say they are model spare parts, they are light and plastic so i see no problem. anything large i would courier i think.
Most of use started with LS kits so yes put them on the forum

Thanks for your pm. I'm afraid I don't have the Ruger.

I think I've loaded the image lampwick.  Hope you can see it?  To be honest it's one of the nicest models I have, very clean lines and smooth action.

Thanks for the advice and interest.  I'm gathering some information on the use of Paypal goods and services, and some suitable packaging, before I advertise my items for sale.

I'll give you first dibs on the Nambu lampwick. Adam, I'll reply to your message.

I've been looking for an LS 1911 and was wondering if you had one of those?
