Nice photos, too.

This is a live pistol with a blank firing barrel on place, correct?

Yes, it is a real pistol.
Changes were made in the construction of pistol which did not give change barrel.
Into the barrel was inserted pin by diameter 4 mm

In the US (finally we're cheaper) - tt. tokarev $300 (approx) & blank adapt $50 (Dean Wilkerson) = $350

I like the purple on the top slide, the svt-40's often have the whole bolt that same purple color, is it an arsenal refinish?

Nice looking pistol and great photos, cheers!

This pistol was made in the USSR in 1937. This is more than 60 years ago. It was used during the WWII.
Who makes the TT which can be purchased in the U.S. for $ 300?

No, this feature of production of TT of this year's release -1937
For the SVT-40 is the postwar refinish of slide.

Polish, Romanian, Chinese, Russian, there are lots available in the US, they turn up all the time, even cheaper at gun shows.

Your pistol is terrific, and the above means nothing - it is just information, because you are not in the US, so the value of your pistol is what it is, or whatever people are willing to pay.

An interesting thread if you're wanting for more info.:

In truth, the TT's can be had for $150 to $200 in good order, with holster and spare mag, if you are prepared to look.

Talking about the Stetchkin (I want at least one as well) - Rocken from Japan actually made one (and sadly it's an one-off model) back in 1996:

Blank firing TT (Tokarev) 1937 One-offStetchkin03
Blank firing TT (Tokarev) 1937 One-offStetchkin04

An ABS made dummy prototype which cannot cycle rounds and attempted to cost JPY 500,000~600,000...

I had been asking the guy who made the dummy guns for me to make this Stetchkin as his next project - but since this isn't a really famous gun so if he has to hand-made one especially for me then I can't imagine how much it'll cost...

I think the purple traces are actually the oxidation...

These were found on the steel part of some of my guns as well:

Blank firing TT (Tokarev) 1937 MP40turnspurple02
Blank firing TT (Tokarev) 1937 EjectorRodturnsPurple

Looks quite similar I reckon...?

Ref. Purple color.

Don't know what causes it, but a lot of arsenal refinished Russian weapons that turn up in the US have bright purple parts, bolts, bolt covers, it's an interesting color, and very distinctive.
I haven't seen it on other weapons to the degree it is on the SVT-40s - AK's or SKS's.
It was just an observation, and nothing that really interests me, lol.

I'm working on my airline ticket and 06 import permits, from the Ukraine, where abouts should I go, PPU?

Well, not really, but considering it, ha.

Do I understand correctly that you can import the MP-38 from Ukraine itself?

Nice purple Luger!

Edited - working nights for a month, a little delirious, wrote too much info. first time around.

And, no, I was not really about to fly to the Ukraine to collect this gun, it was a fantasy episode, lol.

Who knows the nasty stuff they used to use to color metal
Friend who worked on steel production said it is most likely from heating treatement. When steel is heated and then suddenly cooled in oil (to change its properties), steel surface colour also changes depending on maximum temperature reached.

He is not sure if there is a particular treatment that would change colour long time after manufacture (like slow oxidation).

Table below is scanned from an old Polish book on steel processing.
Colours are approximate only, same goes for naming (we need a woman to give names to colours ;-) )

290C = dark blue
It is interesting to note that in the past steel has been used sometimes as an approximate max temperature meter. In range between 200-400C it changed surface colour (after cooling of course). In range 500C-1300C it glowed with different colours.

He warned not to attempt heating steel objects at home, unless it is known they are pure steel. In the past, smaller steel parts (like nuts, bolts) have been sometimes plated with cadmium (poisoning kidneys!), not zinc.
