From what i hear the heavier bolt makes things worse not better for firing. I do beleive that the lighter bolt is the preffered one.

Helfire - I have both kit and factory Marushin XM177's, the factory is fitted with the heavier bolt. and the stronger hammer spring too.

I have tried both with their own bolts and also swapped between the two.

So far as I've haven't noticed much difference in operation between the two though you'd think the lighter bolt would help with extraction and ejection. I should do a more scientific test to see which is best

Both cycle fine with just one 7mm cap, using the spent cap trick. I've tried 7mm + 5mm caps and it just makes too much pressure in the cart..You can see where the gases have escaped from the join in the cart.

So really I wouldn't bother changing the bolt mate.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your advice, i think i'll stick with the standard bolt then, they just seem a little fragile,
i've asked francky for a price anyway, i'll keep it for my XM177 factory model.
i wonder why they use a heavier bolt at the factory??

Cheers....Andy

Hi Allen, I was thinking about getting one of these, and have read up about using two caps (a 5 + 7 mm both together) but didnt notice any mention of using a spent cap. Maybe I just mis read what was there, but I just wondered if you wouldnt mind shedding a little bit of light on this for me.

Yeah spencerman put the firing cap in as normal then get a spent cap and put a hole in it (one of those eyelet punches is good for this) then either place the cap on the pin of the round or (as i do) place the cap in the base of the round facing up (in otherwords if the cap were still live the powder would be facing the head of the round) and then screw the base on, you now have your seal.
