| Post by schultzsgt I am missing this part for my mgc68 mp40 only thing is I can't remember if its part A or Part B which one should I try and find? Also where can I get this piece? Barring that does anyone have the dimensions of this part and a good clear picture or drawing I could probably get one of the students in the tech dept at the high school to machine one for me. Here's the cropping of the part I need from the manual that was posted. Any help will be greatly appreciated thank you in advance.... Harold _________________ | |

| post by Mark The part(s) that the drawing illustrate(s) is the "detonator/detonators" I am not quite sure just why there are two styles of the detonators shown. As there was supposedly only one style of detonator available when the MGC mp40 was being produced: The "paper" cap style detonator. I am sure that Shazib or Francky might be able to identify the two detonators that the instructions show. Also, either Francky or Shazib should be able to obtain reproductions of the detonators as well as the proper MGC cartridges. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Doc This part is only required if you are planning to fire cartridges . As Mark Says Francky or Shazib sells the new type for use with p220 cartridges The old type is this : A = bit less than the width of the hole through your trunnion B = smaller than the diameter of the inside of the trunnion where the barrel sits . like I say though these parts are only required if you are planning to fire anything . If you are after one because your barrel moves in and out then make a washer up the depth of the travel of the barrel . DOC Edit : pic of the original carts _________________ We need guns...lots of guns.... .... well anything mechanical that can kill people is interesting ... | |

| Post by schultzsgt I'm not sure if I will ever fire it but I would like to restore this mp40 back to what it was when I bought it way back in 1974. It has seen alot of play with my kids and parts went missing and some had been broken. I have restored it as best I could just need a couple items yet like this piece and a magazine. Useing a dummy magazine right now that I made from basswood, autobody metal, and plastic _________________ | |

| Post by schultzsgt If anyone has this part could impose upon you for the following measurements. Lengths: A, B, C, D Diameters: E, F, G, H With these measurements I can have one machined locally. Again Thank You in advance _________________ | |

| Post by Doc A = 19mm B = 10mm C = 6mm D= 5mm
E = 8mm F = 10mm G = 18mm H = 10mm
Also the hole you see is 3mm and from this to the back is drilled out to 5mm there is also a hole 3.25 mm in the front end that extends inside only 8mm (does not meet the other hole through the rest of it)

Typically, these exported MGC mp40's did not include the detonators as they where sold as "decorator" grade replicas not as modelguns. So, unless your MGC mp is an extremely rare example or you simply want a detonator in it, i would just make one of these: This is an original plug that MGC made to properly space the barrel on the exported mp's They are as you can see, just an un-finished detonator assy. Every one of my MGC made mp40's have had this style of plug in them when i received them. It is a shame that MGC just didn't install the real detonators in all of the mp's that they made during their production, as it would have made things easier! | |

| Post by schultzsgt When I bought it the hobby shop ordered it in from where I'm not sure but it did come with a box of bullets like the picture above and some caps. Once the caps were gone I tried to use the round caps for cap guns but they never worked well. The would go off with a nice bang but wouldn't cycle the gun. Again thank you for the measurements _________________ | |
