Has anyone ever had any of the denix replicas, they mainly do historical weapons such as powder/single shot rifles and pistols, but they also do a walther PPK, Luger and berreta.

Slightly off topic for a modelgun forum as none of these will actually fire anything, just have working trigger system and magazine i think.

Just interested to see if anyone has ever seen/had one of their replicas because i cant find any sort of review on the net.

Hi Illuminati,
I once owned the denix replica of the browning hi-power,but got rid of it as soon as a good replica came available.
The denix replicas are very badly cast, with pits and bad moulding but they used to be cheap, now they are asking the average of £60+ and they just ain't worth it especially now as the new models don't even have a removable magazine,p38 mauser broomhandle etc.
My advise for what its worth stick to the modelguns!!

Illuminati,

kickbacks absolutely right about the Denix replicas they are in a word: JUNK They are the worst replica guns out there they are at best, crude.

I have had 2 Denix replica guns they where crudely cast and they had little (if any) detail and they just didn't look right.

If you want 17'th century Pirate pistols they make ok decorator pieces but little else.

I recomend that you avoid the Denix replicas...

Just as an addition to that Denix are now producing an AK 47 replica, metal and wood, removable mag and top cover, working bolt and trigger mech and averaging about £110 from various internet suppliers.

I haven't been up close and personal with one firsthand so I can't say whether it follows their usual pattern of poor quality, or whether they've pulled their socks up and sorted themselves out.

If they had I would consider the possibility of using one as a donor in an attempt to build a Bizon, but given how that price for a full size model compares to the prices for their somewhat jonky pistol models I suspect I'd be disappointed.

The AK47 actually looks not bad!

I also noticed lately a MAC11 replica, but im unsure if its made by denix. Again it looks okay.

Hi HueyJ,DeadlyElement,

Welcome to the forums guys!

Wow! Denix might actually produce something with quality??? denix review - Denix Replicas... Overall Review Icon_eek It might be a stretch but if they do make a nice AK, the typically low cost of the Denix replicas might be an advantage..

It's likely that Hudson sold the old tooling (for the older-paper cap AK) to Denix and they just modified it for cost effectiveness.

I had one of the Denix made MAC11's they are simply copies of the MGC MAC11's and they are all cast zinc (including the magazine!)

Quote :
So Denix Mac11s are basically MGC metal Mac11s?
Yes, they appeared to be either old MGC MAC 11 molds used to cast them or newly made Spanish made molds using the MGC MAC 11 as a copy guide.
I actually used the Denix fire control parts in my MGC MAC 11 to replace my earlier MGC non-select fire control parts and they work flawlessly!
So, I guess that Denix is useful for something afterall!

Have you got a link to a Denix Mac11? Sounds interesting. Would you reccomend it over a MGC mac?

No actually, I cannot recomend the Denix MAC copy as it is horrible and it cannot fire caps..The weight and the look is ok, but I prefer to "shoot" my models

Here is a link for the AK www.6gun.co.uk. but I don't see the MAC..

Hi DeadlyElement,

Thanks for the pictures! You are right, the Denix AK looks nice! It does look like they are still casting the magazines out of zinc instead of pressing them out of steel.

The receiver has the normal cheap cast zinc Denix texture and it looks as if they copied the Hudson AK fairly faithfully...Not a bad looking Denix..Maybe someone here will acquire one and write a review of one.

Thanks for the pictures DeadlyElement!

Yes, it looks as if Denix just copied a Hudson AK47 as I think that the pictures show the typical Hudson details (well at least Denix's version of Hudsons details) So, all-in-all, a fairly decent looking Denix AK47 wall hanger..Thanks again!

Just got a Denix AK47(for a friend) and for the money isnt that bad realy.Real mags and bayonet will fir as well which is a bonus.

Just compared it to my Hudson Ak47 and not sure if modelled on one of these.
My Hudson has AB and OA as selector markings which are of a Russian Ak whereas the Denix has D and E which are East German markings

I picked up a couple of these for film/theatre use... they look fine, feel a bit cheap, but hey, so do some AKs... mag rattles a bit, but stays in. Good to know that a real mag will fit. Will it fit when loaded with dummy rounds, I wonder..?

I owned one of the Denix AK-47's and i'd say they look ok, and feel ok. Yet, that they don't have any form of realistic mechanism (nothing in the receiver, no gas piston, no working magazine etc.) totally made me sell mine.

I also used to own one of their MAC's, and while the mechanism was nicer then the AK it's quality was really bad. I broke the cocking handle of the [plastic] bolt in no time.

IF they were more durable and had a somewhat realistic mechanism i could easily ignore the somewhat rough finish.

I've seen quite a lot of the Denix Luger and 1911 and they all seem to be broken.

I must however say that for the price i paid for the AK it was pretty ok, i'd just rather pay more and have it more realistic denix review - Denix Replicas... Overall Review Icon_smile

I hope to be able to check out their Thompsons someday.

2Sharp, that happened to me with my Mac 11 back in the nineties. I got one as a birthday present and kept 'snapping' it back with my palm, instead of my fingers. This caused the plastic bolt to snap away from the plastic bolt reciever and that was the end of my fun denix review - Denix Replicas... Overall Review Icon_redface

I later owned the KSC Mac 11 gas blowback, which had a removable bolt that had to be turned and 'clicked' to secure it. Much stronger and never gave a problem. The constant jamming did though.

Roger on the Hudson AK, didn't the Hudson SE version have a more elaborate mechanism?

Yes. The SE version of the Hudson AK has considerably different internal components that make the SE version the "best" and most capable of firing of the entire Hudson AK series.
