This is a review of my latest purchase the Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government, which I have to say is one of the nicest models I have owned.
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government BlBB7z7
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government AKpuobT
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government LRMgiyx

This is my first experience of this manufacturers models which all seem to be dummy round versions (and this one is no exception) and can manually cycle dummy .45 rounds. This model was originally a “quack shot” system which when the trigger is pulled the slide moves back so internals are very different from real guns, but it would appear that you can change the internals form other model guns to function correctly which is why the trigger and hammer are black on my model.

Markings
Slide
The slide has the colt government horse marking on one side with
COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL on the other side.
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government CWSCZuR

Frame
The frame has colt manufacturers and serial number stamps with what I think are proof/acceptance stamps around the trigger guard.
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government KagagDK

Barrel
The ejection port is marked –COLT.45AUTO—
                                         MKIV/SERIES’70
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government 1KFtNWR

Magazine
The magazine has COLT 45 AUTO on the bottom.
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government K7KWkSP

Internal slide parts
As this is a dummy round version it only has a token firing pin
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government M19rY7N

Nice features
1: The barrel bushing is the correct finger type for the series 70 colts.
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government NQUGra6
2: When stripping the barrel bushing can be removed (after pushing the spring cap in) Without having to remove the slide first
3: The rear sight is removable
Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government 0VotX3a

Weight
Empty weight is 972g
Full mag of MGC rounds is 1102g

Negative points
It is a dummy round version
The barrel is blocked close to the end

Never knew that the Hobbyfix models had the quick action type of mechanism.
If anyone else has any pics on how this actually works i'd be most grateful Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government Icon_smile

All of the Hobby Fix line of modelguns is nice! They have other versions of the 1911 that make the MGC etc 1911's look crude..It's just that they are really expensive!

Francky,

I didn't realise that you had done the conversion yourself, you did a great job Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government Icon_biggrin if i keep the gold i will re-chrome the trigger and hammer.

Any idea if the aluminium MGC barrel will fit Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government Icon_question
