Post by 8aceThis is a review of my latest purchase the Hobby Fix Colt .45 Government, which I have to say is one of the nicest models I have owned.
This is my first experience of this manufacturers models which all seem to be dummy round versions (and this one is no exception) and can manually cycle dummy .45 rounds. This model was originally a “quack shot” system which when the trigger is pulled the slide moves back so internals are very different from real guns, but it would appear that you can change the internals form other model guns to function correctly which is why the trigger and hammer are black on my model.
MarkingsSlideThe slide has the colt government horse marking on one side with
COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL on the other side.
FrameThe frame has colt manufacturers and serial number stamps with what I think are proof/acceptance stamps around the trigger guard.
BarrelThe ejection port is marked –COLT.45AUTO—
MKIV/SERIES’70
MagazineThe magazine has COLT 45 AUTO on the bottom.
Internal slide partsAs this is a dummy round version it only has a token firing pin
Nice features1: The barrel bushing is the correct finger type for the series 70 colts.
2: When stripping the barrel bushing can be removed (after pushing the spring cap in) Without having to remove the slide first
3: The rear sight is removable
