| Post by k.a Hello all, Iam new here and looking to buy my first model gun. Can anyone who owns the Marushin 1911a1 Government tell me if this gun field strips exactly like the real thing?, like the Mgc Colts. Also is the front of the barrel open, so you get muzzle flash, smoke comming out of the front when fireing? Thanks | |

| Post by John Hello k.a.,
Welcome to the Forum. The Maurshin M1911 is a good one to start as it is relatively cheaper than MGC's. I have not touched any real handgun but I believe it is very close to the real one. However, it is well known that the MGC M1911 series is the best and in very many variants. Please see the "Buy & Sell" section as there are quite a lot of MGC's M1911 just put on sale by our Forum member.
Yes, both Marushin & MGC M1911 are open barrels (with a sheet of metal in the middle). | |

| Post by k.a Hi Jhon, Thanks for the reply. As you said that the Marushin and Mgc barrel's both got sheet of metal in the middle, does it prevent them from giveing off that immpressive smoke and muzzle flash you see from the front of the barrel's in the video's of model guns . If it does, can you take that sheet out Yeah, going through the forum I realized that Mgc's are better guns but with them going out of bussiness what worries me is the availablety of caps or can you use Marushin 7mm caps in the Mgc's | |

| Post by MadMike You can use any brand of caps (in fact they are all made by the same company, kane cap in Japan). The MGC version has a very good reputation and with MGC stopping the production it will become rarer. Getting spare parts may become a problem. It is not yet sure if MGC or another company will make the 1911 and/or spare parts using MGC molds in the future. If you want to fire it a lot a ABS version might be better, although it is and feels lighter. But Heavy Weight material seems to be more prone to breaking. | |

| Post by k.a Thanks for the replies guys, as marushins or any other caps can be used in Mgc's I think I'll go for Mgc ,buy loads of cartridges and a spare mag incase they are not available in future. Still be nice to know if the Marushin field strips like the real deal as I think it be a wise choice, with the parts availablety issue in future for the Mgc. | |

| Post by 1911 k.a Marushin 1911 field strips like real steel, so does MGC 1911. IMO, If you really like 1911, get at least one MGC 1911. Marushin HW 1911 is a fine replica, but it weights less than MGC HW version. Also MGC 1911 have no visiable maker marks but Marushin put its marking on the slide. I believe Marushin only offers two version of 1911 (colt full-size & commander size). MGC has more offers although some are no longer in production. MGC 1911 production: Caliber: .45, .38, 10mm Size: Full size, commander, & officer/compact size. Manufacturer: Colt (military & commercial versions), Springfield Armory, Kimber, Detonics, Remington Rand, Remington UMC, Singer, Union Switch & Signal, Norinco, Argentine military versions, etc.. The link below is an excellent Japanese website that have most of the MGC 1911 pictures ever produced. http://homepage3.nifty.com/nkoinuma/menu.htm | |
