| Post by Doc Still perfectly legal to buy deactivated weapons , however the Home Secretary wants to remove older spec deactivations from home ownership (by the end of the year) , Its a bit unsure what she proposes but if I had to take a guess then I would say they owners will either need to be a registered re-enactor/film maker etc or have some sort of collectors licence .
It won`t be a case of "if you bought one before any ban you can keep it type thing" they are actively going about having them taken from circulation .
another option may be to re-submit it for total welding up (like post 95 spec)
Like I say this is speculation at the moment as the silly short sighted cow has only just decided they should all go .
TBH when deacts escaped the VCR act I thought something was up ...those sneaky b*****ds
DOC
EDIT : Post 95 spec are likely to be unaffected ...but then again they are just paperweights so how interesting is that. _________________ We need guns...lots of guns....

| Post by richard jones I just feel very very sorry for the people out there with old spec guns like MP40s and MP44s who are going to lose £1000s. PS try RYTON ARMS for a new spec Ak47-pretty sure you will get a cheaper one than Arundel Last edited by richard jones on Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:59 pm; edited 1 time in total | |

| Post by Doc If they do make up some sort of collectors licence then are you going to feel obliged to get one ? if you do they instantly have a database of where they all are ..if you dont then you may instantly become a criminal after a certain date ...
This is all totally wrong as its only going to penalise innocent decent people.
All you can do is promise you vote next election time to any party that looks even remotely interested in fair treatment for gun enthusiasts and if the others come calling you can tell them to **********

| Post by Spencerman That is if they admit to still having them. They could have theoretically sold the gun on and not know who now possesses it. I can see a lot of people more pissed off about that than the handgun ban. If I personally had a type of gun, be it Brocock or De-act etc. and some floppy piss flap politician told me that I couldnt have it anymore and, by the way, you are going to be out of pocket by, ohhhh a few hundred quid easy, maybe a grand, I would put it under a floor board somewhere and quickly develop amnesia. I am all for getting guns off the street, and particularly away from kids, but it is a stupid law. More people are killed by kids in stolen cars, at least one this weekend near me, each year, but yet no polititian would go and say, lets make it 25 before you can drive, minimum 5 year prison sentence for driving a car at 15! Guns do kill people, as do knives, and I dont want to sound like a broken record, but it is the illegal act of the killing of the person that is at fault, not the gun or the knife, they are mearly an instrument to accomplish the end. You wouldnt ban shoes if I was to bludgen someone with one. Also, how many of these people actually deserve it anyway. I know that the media make a really big deal about the innocent 12 year old who was shot dead, and that is really terrible, but how many of the people who get shot are actually drug dealing scum bags anyway? Overnight the Brocock ban turned hundreds of law abiding people into criminals, I would wager that many still do not realise this, and this will achieve the same. I hope that the government see sense, and if a reform is intended, do it in a sensible and FAIR way. _________________ | |
