Hell, if there was a section that explained how to do this without half the hassle, then I would be there like a shot. That for me, and I am sure for many others, is the main bug bear with modelguns. Bring on disposable rounds by the thousand I say! If there was only one type of disposeable round, I would find a way to convert all my models to use them. I welcome a maintenace section, and would also welcome any suggestion if anyone has an easy way of cleaning those cartridges, especially the tanaka ones! I personally find those one of the nicer and more reliable cartridges but they are such a pain to clean, so many parts, and sometimes after I have fired them I have to really battle to get the 'bullet' tip off and remove the interior, it is almost as if it has sealed itself up!

| Hiya Spencerman, I feel as you do, that a disposable round would make life so much easier but until somebody comes up with one, we'll have to persevere with the ones we have Personaly I would definately find a Maintainance Section with Hints & Tips very useful as the few things I've learned to date have either been by Trial & Error, a bit of logical thinking or by asking the experts for advice here. Sounds like we might have found a Topic to start off? If this forum does one thing well, it is to be keen to help anybody and everybody get their modelgun working. No such thing as Stupid Questions and certainly none of the "Superior and Aloof" attitudes I've seen on some of the Airsoft forums. We all start off somewhere don't we? If Santa brings me a decent camera (he's got my request for a new PC already) I'll try doing something but in the meantime, I'm sure the lads out there with far superior knowledge than I have might start the ball rolling? I have no knowledge of Tanaka cartridges at all but I'll bet somebody out there does. | Post by ricks Often used modelguns are sold without the small loading & cleaning tools. Having several of these I would surely welcome a loading/cleaning section! _________________ Rick | |

| Post by jim Sorry guys...let me rephrase here: I'll try to gather my memory before telling you guys of the time when I travelled to Tokyo (after I finished my Uni degree - in early '04) for a week buying ~6 model handguns from different gun shops around Tokyo and eventually brought it back to HK personally...
I'll try to describe all the shops, my impressions as well as other relevant issues as detailed as possible...I might add some pics when I tell my story later on...
It's the time that's a major problem for me - I usually worked 6 days a week (12+ hrs a day!) so I've to tell my experience bits by bits irregularly...

Hi Rick, I'm thinking of a Step by Step guide using as many photos as possible for this sort of thing. Pictures tell a thousand words don't they! Unless anybody else wants to tackle this one now, I'd like to try one on Loading and Cleaning MGC and Marushin cartridges but I will need to get myself a good camera first. Can you bear with me on this particular one till after Christmas? Another one worth considering is stripping and cleaning particular model guns too, or How to set up Magazines so they feed properly etc etc. Cerwyn

| Post by jim Well yes and no...I'll explain later because I want to talk about my experience on various shops (some had closed down unfortunately...)before my encounter with the Customs & I want to tell my story accompanied with pics (something like a memoir which I wanted to prepare better before I post it up). | |

| Post by MadMike Well, there was the UKdeacts.com forum. This was run by a guy who imported and sold blank guns in Britain. But the forum as well as his on-line shop are down for a week or two now.
There are some forums hosted in Germany where blank guns are rather common, but the discussions are in German only ... _________________ "It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over."

| Post by fightdesigner I actually went ahead and started another set of forums after the Blank Firing forums here were dropped: http://www.fightdesigner.forumotion.com As what I do is theatre and film props, the new forums cover much more than just blank firing guns... but as it was prompted by the closure of the blank firing guns here, that's been the busiest section so far. I do have a modelgun section, but at the moment it's mostly just a link back here to MP40modelguns... because let's face it, why bother duplicating or trying to compete when someone's already set us up such nice and active forums here? Ditto with the sword forum, since there's so much already out there... as opposed to blank firing guns, which have next to nothing. So anyway, any of you interested in blank firing, dummy guns, airsoft guns, or other replica weaponry (swords, knives, whatever) please stop by and have a look.
