| Subject: .45 cal ACP rounds? Thu Sep 25, 2008 11:52 am | |
| Post by Phobus Does anyone know where in the UK I can get the above inert rds for a 1911 Colt for display purposes ??
There used to be a place which advertised in Gunmart ( ACS ?? ) that did everything from .17 centrefire right up to 20mm cannon rounds but I dont know if they are still going ?
I am interested in cartridges anyway and have quite a few inert rds but these tend to be older readily available ones rather than newer exotic stuff like for instance the small cartridges used in PDW like FNP 90 - 5.7 X 28MM .
Or even the .17 HMR which is very popular in UK. I would be interested in collecting these rds .
Thanks
Carl. _________________ Marmite enthusiast | |

| Hiya Carl ,
Try this chap... Crusader Products. seller ID gsc845
He's on e-Bay but as he states on his pages e-Bay banned sales of inert rounds so he only does them through his on-line shop.
I've bought rds off him in the past, .45ACP, 9mm, 5.56etc and they're good stuff for display. The primers are removed so the bases look a bit odd but the cases and copper nosed bullets are great.
Drop him a line, I'm sure he'll sort you out

| Post by Phobus Thanks Cerwyn I will give them a go . The rds that I bought previously had primer in tact so looked EXACTLY like a live round . I guess the primers were duds or empty but no hammer strikes on them Carl. _________________ Marmite enthusiast | |

| Post by Phobus Thanks for help with that guys. Seems like things have changed since I last bought these rds and there is new legislaton in place for inert rds . The primers must be " struck " and contain no propellant whatsoever . Apparantly the primers were immersed in oil to render them innoperable in the past ??? That way you have a round which looks 100% like a live round . The new ones do NOT !! ....BUT COST MORE !! I think I will keep looking ... CARL. _________________ Marmite enthusiast | |

I did get rid of my real small calibre ammo partly because of the primer issue as oiling is OK but cannot guarantee it inert, so a struck primer is normally the only way to tell if it is.
If I buy rounds now they are drill ones (which wouldn't be good for display as they look a bit different)
You could buy some with struck primers, fill the hole and repaint it to make it look un-struck
Mulberryfield do some real look dummy .45 rounds which look good.
Nice gun by the way
