I had one of the heavyweights a wjhile back...and I used a real USGI 7 round M1911A1 .45 magazine in it with zip-point-zero problems. I did NOT modify the real mag in any way.
Hope that this helps. It is your cheapest cure.

That's encouraging Thank you very much Kimbo. I'll see if I can find a US dealer that'll sell me one now then . I've had problems in the past when dealers won't ship anything "gun" related out of the Country. Worth another try though

Have you tried (or have access to) a Colt Officer magazine ? Not sure it would fit but it is smaller than a standard 1911

Thanks very much for this tip I haven't tried the "Officer" magzine.
Before I rush off to buy one, would anyone have one please they could measure up to see if it matches the one I need

Hey Cerwyn
Did you manage to find an Officers mag ?
Hi Mega'
Not yet, I've been fiddling about with other modelguns and not had time to chase up an Officer's mag. If you know of a UK supplier of real ones or you know if anyone has a modelgun version in stock please let me know
Thanks

Sadly the MGC Colt Officer's mag is much shorter than the one I need...
My thanks to shazhib for checking this out for me. The only leads I have are the dimensions from the one currently in the gun and Francky's suggestion it is most likely from the GM-2 series
The search continues

I believe it is a GM-2 and it looks identical to yours ( i posted pics of mine somewhere) although I don't have any other magazines to measure it by (in fact I don't have any magazine for it at all)
