How to fit Thompson Kerr type sling?

Subject: How to fit Thompson Kerr type sling? Thu Aug 07, 2008 5:44 pm

I've got myself a Kerr type sling that should fit my Thompsons.
I cannot figure out how the hell it's meant to fit!
Hudson's M1A1 basic instruction sheet has a line drawing showing the route the sling follows but I can't get mine to thread through that way.
Can anybody help me out please?

Okay, this should work on your sling. With the hook attached on the front swivel as you have it, depress the spring on the hook and hold it down until the spring goes through the swivel then slide the rest of the hook through the swivel and bring it through and attach the hook to the sling were I showed you in the photo, You can do that with either side. This may help, this is how my sling is attached. Method was copied from an original combat photo. Length can be adjusted by attaching the rear snap to the rear sling swivel instead of to the sling loop as in the photo. Both Thompson and sling are original.

It is a nice looking setup isn't it? I used the instructions above to fit my Kerr slings to both Hudson And MGC Thompsons with ease. As mentioned above, getting the clips through the loops had been proving impossible and very frustrating. Thankfully these instructions, drawing and photos made it very easy
