With all this talking about modelguns I've decided to visit a shooting range for a change ;-)
Apart from the usual 9mm pistols I got to shoot MAG 95, a Polish construction.
It is an amazing pistol. My first shot at 10m was an 8 and the next 4 were all 10!
It was just as good for remainder of the shooting. I've never had such a good results
shooting the first shots from any pistol, even one I knew.
Instructor told me that the Army organized trials for a new standard issue pistol.
MAG 95 was presented by one of Polish companies, but it lost to another Polish design.
Even though technically this pistol received the best marks, it was probably
rejected on some political grounds, although some people say it was
simply too heavy compared to other pistols (1.1 kg, 2.43 pounds)
and thus uncomfortable to carry.
Weight, however, gives this pistol excellent stability. It also has a large (circumference)
grip that was very comfortable to hold (I have large hands).
As I've just learned, after Army trials remaining pistols ended up on this shooting range,
including pistol serial number 000001 :-) The feeling of using something unique also
adds to the shooting experience ;-)
