hi everyone
new to the modelgun scene and just wanted some advice for my first modelgun. i've been looking at the marushin mp40 kit,so just wondered what you guys thought of it as a first gun.
is it very 'plasticy',how much of the gun is metal?
i dont think i will have any problem building it up as i've had quite a bit of experience with airsoft guns and being a mechanical engineer i may be able to reproduce some of the weaker parts that i have read about.

what do you guys think.

cheers
jay

Hi Jay851,

Welcome to the forums!

The Marushin MP40 is a very good starter modelgun kit as the assembly is simple and the blow-back action works great!

As for the construction, it is 75%(or more) plastic but, it makes up for that as it weighs a fair amount when finished.

hi mark
thanks mate,i guess the best way to learn about modelguns is to build one. i'm going to order one from dentrinity.com as it is quite cheap as are the cartridges, just wondering if there are any blackspots i should know about when building it.

great site by the way.

Hi jay,

Yes, the dentrinity MP40 kits are fairly inexpensive and they are a great way to learn and have fun at the same time..As far as bad spots in the assembly goes, the barrel assembly seems to be the worst area of assembly as I have heard that many people have had trouble with this area..

As the pressed steel barrel insert goes in with some force.

Other than that, the assembly is straightforward and takes a few hours to complete.

THanks for the complements on my site! (it does need some up-dates though!)
