Hello all, I have recently got down from my loft a couple of items for my teenage kid to play with & thought I would try & find out some more about them. Firstly is a plastic home assembly replica of a Smith & Wesson M29 with the following inscriptions:- MARUI MODEL TMPC MODEL GUN MADE IN JAPAN MARUI MODELGUN SERIES NO. TMPC-78002 Secondly is a metal revolver that “fires” 6mm short caps/blanks, they discharge through the cylinder, the barrel has not been bored. This only says made in Italy on it but maybe not for this thread! Are Marui still in operation, are spare parts available etc? Any help, info. greatly appreciated. W

Wonderful to hear that you still got some of your models from your teenage years! If its possible to post a picture of them I am sure we can help you identify them even better!
What I can say now is that I think the first one is one of these.
Marui or Tokyo Marui as they are called these days are still around to these days. Sadly they dont make modelguns any longer though but only seems to be making airsoft guns so spare parts might be hard to find.
The other one I really have no clue what it could be. Probably some blankfire / starting revolver.

Hi and welcome to the forum. pretty sure our marui is as sommarkatze says and marui used to make their own caps for these models. As for the metal model, possibly a Jackel that fires 22 short blanks, they did a colt peacemaker a colt python and what they called a 44 magnum but looked like a colt trooper and they were from Italy.

Thanks Claymore, yes just found box for Italian job & it does say .44 Magnum but having googled what a Colt Trooper looks like it is indeed one of them. The Marui came a in a lot more pieces than the photo in thread but I guess their complexity may have changed over time, will get pics up later.

That's the one. I never know if this is easy or late model as the grip insignia is a flower type and jackel went to a jackel head or the other way around. Worth between 90 and 120 quid.

I think that I still have one of those Jackal 44 Magnum revolvers somewhere. They do indeed fire .22 short crimp blanks, available from most gun shops quite cheaply and not incredibly loud (too loud for indoors etc though) when compared to something like a .38 or a p.a.k. Blank. I bought mine brand new, it was the first toy gun I had, and it cost me £35 from Streatham Armoury. It is definitely no longer in one piece as the last time I took it out parts just crumbled off of it where it is just the worst pot metal. It’s obviously nowhere near realistic due to many many differences, the most glaring being the cylinder and the cylinder release. The solid barrel also always bugged me, they could have at least put a slight recess at the end or something. Still nice to see one again, but as mentioned not worth much, and not as interesting as the marui.

Thanks Cerwyn, I’m still around, just not as active so much as I used to be (although I did have a little hiatus when I couldn’t remember my login details!), health issues and things, you know how it is. Hopefully I will still be able to pass on what little Knowledge I have still
