hey guys,

let me introduce myself.

my names taylor and im 20 from Australia. I am very much into old west/civil war replica revolvers. (much like spaghetti western ones.) and i absolutly adore the 1851 colt navy.
im new to thise site and love the community spirit bult around the forums.

i come to you guys firstly with a problem.

In Australia most replica guns are denix (since its hard to get mgc and others if you dont have correct licenses that can take up to a year (including all the bullshit) to obtain, not to mention then you have to order in from overseas). now you are 'supposed' to have a license even for replica non-firing revolvers past the years of 1700 i think. could be 1800- ill have to check. england has kinda the same thing.

now i dont have a license for any type of revolver (blank firing or not), but i already own 2 denix models (1873 colt calvarly and a custom 1851 colt navy, both shitty quality.) these guns of mine have never left the house but are wallhangers that sit ontop of my fireplace in my home, and are locked up when i go on holidays.

Im starting to expand my visions for a blank firing colt 1851 navy outside my country, and pay a mate of mine who has the correct license to get them into the country legally to get the model i want in. But my biggest problem im finding is acctauly trying to find a non-firing 1851 colt navy replica
that acctauly feels and looks like a real one. Sad

if anyone could point me in the direction of one that would be awesome.

please note: i cannot have a blank firing one or an airsoft one. my freind only has a collectors license and cannot obtain these.

if anyone ata ll could help me out i would greatly appreciate it.

i see so much good community spirit in these forums i just cant wait to make friends and help others out too.

kind regards,

taylor

Hello taylor, welcome to the forums Help me guys? confused about modelguns. Icon_biggrin

Having read messages posted up by our Australian members in the past, it seems that buying replica guns can be extremely difficult there and I believe the Laws vary from State to State.
I'm sure our Australian members can advise you further on the legalities.

Several of our members Worldwide have a good knowledge of pre 1900 Revolvers, I'm confident they'll give you some help and guidance.

Thanks again for registering today Help me guys? confused about modelguns. Icon_wink

Hi Taylor,

You don't mention which state you are in, but Queensland and WA the laws are still reasonable, although I have heard that it could be more difficult soon.

I obtained most of mine by advertising in the "wanted" sections of the local trade papers.
You'd be surprised how many people who would want to offload their "illegal" guns cheap, and others who have no idea.
Then you'll get the ones who think they have real rarities and want the earth for them.

We also have Military Swapmeets over here, and good replica model guns turn up all the time.
And finally, just talk to people. You'd be amazed how many of them have them in the back of their shed.

ahh i live in Victoria.

now i know the ONLY way to own them there is to obtain a collectors license. so what i try and do is buy from peopple over the internet that live in the legal states and get them sent by ground mail to my houe so they cant be scanned or picked up.

the problem i have is acctauly finding the guns at the right price.

pretty much NO denix model should be priced over $250 imo.

so i need some guidence from you guys as to what model gun brands i should be looking at that do pre 1900. pistols.

the model im desperatly after is the 1851 Colt Navy.

i just need help finding one.

now i know i will HAVE to buy outside australia since i doubt i will find the model here. safetypin australias laws are just bs nowdays too.

i just dont know what brands will have my model or where i should look as i am obviously wanting a brand new one but not airsoft. confused
