The bolt on my CMC folding stock carbine doesn't come back far enough to pick up and chamber the rounds. I've tried placing them to the front of the magazine but to no avail. I don't want to take the coal hammer to it yet so.... any suggestions. Any ideas where I can get a take down diagram?

yep there is something amiss inside I would say as the bolt is suppose to retract all the way to the small piece that protrudes from its right side (if this makes sense)

There is more than one version but they basically strip the same .... take off the sling, magazine
1. unscrew the slotted screw under the barrel band at the front, then push in the small bar embedded in the woodwork to release the front band from the woodwork.
2. the top cover should now come off.
3. If you lift up the barrel the complete mechanism should lift out of the woodwork but you may have to push the magazine catch in a little if it gets stuck against the wood.
4. on the right side you will see a long flat bar that has a pin running from it through to the left side , on the left side of this pin there should be a little lever attached or at least some little clip to hold the pin end . Remove this flat bar with pin attached , make sure the hammer is cocked back (you can do this by hand) then the lower trigger group should slide backwards and release from the upper receiver parts .
Then you can remove the cocking handle return spring tube etc and the bolt /cocking handle will strip apart .

Off the top of my head I have no idea what would be stopping the bolt going back more than is shown but I would expect to see something floating about in there (hopefully not a broken hammer )

Thanks Doc. Strange thing is that when I'd released the top cover I tried cocking it and it went right back without any hitch!. Seems to be OK now. Cheers Terry

Possibly the end of the cocking handle snagging on a bit of wood inside the top cover then.

Well at least you know how to take it apart now !!

Lampwick,

I see that you are intending to fire your CMC M1 eh? Nothing worse than trying to fire off some caps and find out that the action doesn't work correctly! But it seens to be working now isn't it?

Thanks for the help on the problem Doc!

I never fire my guns. I had enough of that sort of nonsense when I was in the Services. I look at them as machines or, as was the case with my Tanaka WZ-63, an elusive thing to be hunted down. It's the chasing and swapping this and that for things and then swapping something else to get something else to swap to get my original gun back that gives me the buzz. I shall probably be putting the carbine up for sale as soon as I've admired it enough.
