| Post by kharris I just got a Nakata Mp-40 Cant get it to blow back the bolt far enough to load or eject rounds / tried caps in all directions inside of shells. lot of smoke but bolt only moves back about 1/2 inch. Spring not to strong / I drilled and lightened the bolt . but stll wont work . also any one know the proper shell to use in it ? or what all shells will work in it ? or any pictures of how to load shell . It came with shells M92F along with some of the pins and plastic pieces like the MGC luger uses in it's shells . Should I keep it ? or Make a Planter out of it and put flowers in it and stick it in the ground in my front yard ? | |

| Post by Mark Unfortunately, I have not had the pleasure of owning a Nakata MP40 (yet) Also, the Nakata MP40 as well as all of the blow-back modelguns at that time used "paper caps" that are of course, obsolete and in most cases, the actual cartridges are hard to find in quantities that make firing the model worth it.
With the proper detonator and cartridges the Nakata or any modelgun will work quite well. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by DOC There is ne real reason why your Nakata MP40 should not blow back well enough to eject.
The beretta 92F shells should be fine although there are two types of bolt found in these older zinc modelguns , one is lightweight and the other is heavy zinc.
Saying this though both types will work with the correct springs.
The most common fault I have found with this type is that the ejector bar (the bit that sticks up out of the receiver) is much too short and therefore does not clip the back of the rounds on ther rearward travel.
Because they dont eject it gives the impression the bolt is not travelling backwards enough , perhaps this is the problem ??

| Post by kickback Hi from what i can tell it sounds like the wrong type of cartridge is being used i have the Nataka mp40 working great with the mgc p220 cartridge but the ksc 9mm cartridge also works great. Its hard to tell without knowing what type of detonator you have in place but Francky on this forum can get you the detonator and cartridges (at a good price) to get your mp40 working as it should,it'll make a lousy planter! | Could you post photo's of the detonator pin and chamber maybe? It might be possible to see if you've been given the correct detonator for the rounds. As far as I know, the older paper cap type rounds used much larger pins?
I'm sure the guys here will tell you right away what you've got.

| Post by kharris I have now got the gun working . it all had to do with the order of putting the parts inside of the shells. I got the gun from Francky and the book he sent with it the pictures were not correct for the order of placing parts inside of shells. I do want to thank all of you for your help and info. | |

| Post by kharris well it dump out the rounds fairly quick / rattles and makes so much noise I never even heard the caps going off . But it's made of steel and weighs even more than the MGC68 . So I added it to my collection along with the other 5 Mp40s . too ugly to use as a flower pot but then you never know ! | |

I have a Garden Gnome in need of a submachine gun... just the job for keeping cats out of the flower beds Cerwyn _________________ Hobby collector of mainly WW2 era uniforms, headgear, field equipment and replica weapons. | |
