| Does anyone know of a model gun pistol with barrel threading for a silencer? Or a kit that comes with a silencer? This would be PERFECT: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=252849596Except it has a blocked barrel and only accepts dummy rounds. I know there's a silenced Uzi kit out there which I plan on getting, but I also need a pair of silenced pistols. Any help appreciated (even if it's the bad news I'm expecting). Thanks. | |

| MGC Mac 11 silencer, I have one for sale on Gunbroker right now. Also dummy silencers http://www.mfiap.com/They fit airsoft and most of the old style modelguns - the UZI for example or AR series. | |

Here's some link that might help. Including Marushin's web site with pics of a silencer thread in case you might make your own~

http://www.marushin-kk.co.jp/itemmoppksilencer.html Yeah, that thing has been "coming soon" for about 14 months now... Shame too because it's exactly what I need. Found a video of what looks to be the same gun (from 2009!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6IOSUIuZhM&feature=subIt seems like all the silenced model gun pistols are dummy rounds only. Who buys these things? And for what purpose? http://www.dentrinityshop.com/pr_details.jsp?pid=15445http://www.dentrinityshop.com/pr_details.jsp?pid=15446I was SO HAPPY to stumble upon a non-firing dummy M1911 modified for PFC cartridges...until I found out you have to manually eject each shell after firing...sigh I just need two silenced PFC pistols...you wouldn't think that would be such a tall order. What an aggravating "industry" this is. I have to think there's a huge entrepreneurial opportunity for someone with the means to really shake up the prop guns market. As it stands now, we have our choice of: Airsoft: requires cheap-looking/time-consuming digital effects in post... Blank guns: too damned loud, dangerous, permits... PFC model guns: godawful selection of models, fragile, makes thirty year old Lamborghinis seem reliable... ARGH! - pitfighter wrote:

I would buy it right now if you could determine whether or not it's fire-able in semi and auto. I use these things for films so I have to know that they function. A non-functioning PFC gun doesn't make any sense to me. You might as well use Airsoft. As it stands I can't afford to take a $170 gamble on something that might turn out to be completely useless (mechanically speaking). Anyway, thanks for the help guys.

| Being a one-time Jams Bond fan I was looking at putting some Airsoft silencers on one of my Marushin PPK/s. It looked like a relatively straight-forward job; the making of a push on adapter is simple - but a screw on one posed some problems which I never got around to solving only because it wasn't a high priority. So my question is, "do you need a screw on silencer in your movie?" Kiwigunner | |

| Hmm, I don't know of many modelguns with silencers. Main problem seems to be that weight of silencer causes problems with slide/barrel movement and therefore blowback. It was a certain problem also for airsoft models.
MGC MAC11 is the most accessible cap-blowback model with silencer, but it's a submachine pistol, not a normal pistol. Marushin PPK, Colt .25 and 1910 are dummy only as far as I know. Kokusai used to make metal Colt .25 with silencer, but I don't think you will find it easily. Others seem to be one-off customs.

| Hi Filmmaker, You may want to try out the non-guns from ISS, they have them with fake silencers, they make a flash and hardly any bang, I have used them where the flash was a inch or two away from the stunt man's face. http://issprops.com/weapons/non_gunsAlso, why not use a blank adapted real gun, which with half or quarter loads can be quite manageable? We used a .38 with quarter loads on my last picture, they sound like a a kid's cap gun, but make a bit more of a flash. Most semi automatics can be adapted to cycle with half loads, and you simply screw on a dummy sielncer from MFI or better and smarter yet, rent the whole set-up from ISS. Good luck, mate, JJ | |

| I thought in real life the sound suppressors already absorb most (if not all) of the muzzle flash...same situations for movies as well (i.e. audiences will understand suppressors = no muzzle flash)? | |

| You are correct, there's no flash at all from a real silencer - but these are movies. | |

Don't need muzzle flash with silencers...but I still need shell ejection. - pitfighter wrote:

That's half of what makes model guns so great for film! Also the selection of non-guns seems to be just as limited as the selection of PFC guns. Nothing new available. Everything circa 1960's and 1970's. - pitfighter wrote:

That would obviously be ideal but it's also a pretty big step-up in expense and hassle with regard to permits and licensed on-set armorers etc etc...

| One of our members (Ken Harris) has a P38 PFC modelgun with a silencer on Gunbroker at present: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=253357304[I regularly buy from him and he ships to NZ no problems. I got a Colt SAA in 4 days air mail delivery to here in Auckland!] He has a a large collection of model guns, parts and files for sale. Kiwigunner | |
