| Welcome to the forum Alex! Modelguns are Japanese (with a few exceptions) replica guns that are either dummy (cycle cartridges), or fire caps (similar like children cap-fireres). Modern ones have blowback action and eject shells like real guns, in addition to smoke/noise/sparks effects, all powered by cap explosion. You can find much more information in the following article: https://mp40modelguns.forumotion.net/t1949-history-of-modelgun-industryFor questions on UK laws I will defer to our UK members. As far as I know modelguns come under VCRA and require an exemption to buy (like airsoft). | |

| Hello Alex, and welcome indeed to the forum Modelguns are 1:1 scale models of almost every type of gun you can think of. They're made of either Steel, Zinc Alloy, different types of plastics with wood furniture when needed.Rather than repeat all the information, have a look at the following dealers' websites. Accurate descriptions, videos, photos and information about the Modelguns available are all there on these sites. You'll also, of course, find a goldmine of information here too. Watching videos will give you a good impression what Modelguns do. As a UK resident, buying modelguns, as they are legally considered "Replica Imitation Firearms" is controlled by the Violent Crimes Reduction Act.To be legaly entitled to buy them, you must be:
- 18 yrs of age minimum
- A registered member of a Living History Re-enactment Group
- A registered and active member of an Airsoft Skirmish site
- A Museum
- In the Film/TV Industry
- A Crown Servant
There's a wealth of more information about the law here, type in VCRA in the Search function. I hope this helps, please don't hesitate to ask if you need more info' _________________ Cerwyn
