| Post by Mark That's a great way to store your cartridges Mike..That way they are all in one spot and they are reasonably safe against dinging them up too much at that..I will probably have to adopt that idea myself _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still) MGC MP40 Marushin MP40 Nakata MP40 TRC MP40 Modelgun manufacturers, past and present:CMC,CAW,Hudson,HWS,LS,MGC(R.I.P. 1960's~2007) Marushin,Marui,Kokusai,Shoei,Tanaka and Western Arms | |

| Post by Claymore Well mine are in the original boxes which are kept in a draw at the moment. I have ammo boxes that i used to keep my reloads in but nowhere to put the boxes except the garage and i dont want to keep the caps there. So untill we move to a bigger place the draw they will have to stay. | |

| Post by John For those brand new modelguns I have, the associated cartridges are all brand new and still in their boxes or plastic bags. I just use them for photo taking. Then they all rest in their original place, peacefully.
For those cartridges come with the used modelguns, I put them in a small plastic bag (1 for each type) and then put all the whole lot in a metal cake / candy box.
BTW, I heard that it is a bad idea to keep the cartridges in the magazine for long & it is even worst if fully load. It will weaken the magazine spring easily. Right ? So I don't put even 1 cartridge in any magazine for storage. But I put some cartridges in the cylinder of revolvers for storage in the box.
Another point, I highly recommend to store up the cartridges well & keep them away from kids. When those cartridges are disposed improperly in the bins or streets, it will cause unnecessary alert, disturburance and annoyance of the general public. Following that, it may waste certain amount of police resources to handle the incidents which should have been used in some other meaningful things these days.

| Post by Claymore Yes John you are right storing rounds in the mags is not recommended as it is supposed to weaken the springs. Compressing a spring for any length of time will be bad for it.
disposing of rounds is another thing you must be carefull with, especially over here in the present climate. i always completly destroy rounds that i am throwing away so no one would recognise it for what it once was.

| Post by Mark Just be sure that all of your cartridges are clean and dry before storing them away to ensure that they don't corrode and tarnish. I have a brass tumbler that i occasionally dump my modelgun cartridges into to clean them and re-polish them after they have all of the residue from firing removed. DESTROYING CARTRIDGES???? What and Why? I never discard any cartridge or modelgun parts as they can be used for many things, parts ID etc. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Claymore HeHe, having a heart attack mark. Now would i destroy something for no reason, some of my uzi/MP40 rounds have lost the will to live. Some got jammed and bent beyond repair, some of the bases have been blown off and they threads stripped. I normally mix and match broken rounds so as to save what i can, however some of them are deader than a dead thing is dead in dead land and so i destroy them so that they cannot be recognised for what they are and cause a panic. Sorry to give you the sweats but for the few that have gone there was (well to me) nothing that could be done for them. | |

| Post by Mark I like to retain my un-usable cartridges as i like to learn from my mistakes and i usually give them a post-mortum to see what happened to them and to see if i can correct any deficiencies in the design of the modelgun or the cartridges via mods or grease in the cartridges etc. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)
