| It is interesting - he made the plastic lower receiver only. Not the springs or metal parts of course.
What is fascinating is reading the terribly uniformed bleating sheep, terrified moron journalism surrounding the article and the three that are linked to it. It is and has always been permissible to build your own lower Receiver so long as it follows the law - people finish 80% lowers and tubes all the time, I have had seven legal firearms created from scratch or partially finished receivers. There are strict laws to follow (the printer builder DID follow them), it is not illegal at all in the US. A mixture of words and suddenly they are wringing their hands and jumping around crying wolf.
Printing a real gun, ahhhhhhh.
You can make one with a nail file and hand drill - I'll show you how to make one with a pipe and a nail and an elastic band, too. I can even silence a 12 gauge using a motorcycle exhaust, mothers to mercy.
Hah, rant over.
Yes - you could probably make some cool ABS modelguns using this technology.
Pit.

| Well - useful stuff means home appliances / kitchen utensils...maybe model cars as well... Maybe some Japanese makers already make limited models through this but not telling | |

| I imagine if you're mass producing there are still faaaar more efficient and economical ways to do this... but for one-offs, things you might want to modify, things that don't have enough demand to justify a full production run, things that are maybe legal but still a pain to get through customs (or, in some places, legal to own but not to import) this could totally be a viable option. Imagine customer support saying "oh, your Tanaka USP trigger group is broken? Let me email you the specs so you can print out a replacement sir"
