| Hi All A question for the luger fans;) In the picture below the middle luger has a "extra" piece on the rear sight spot, can anyone give the reason for this? I am always learning from you guys ! Info about model and real version appreciated ! Cheers Johnnyv | |

| This is another Sight, like a Match Sight. The Barrel of this Gun is not long enough to put the rear sight behind the Chamber so the Techicans give it this Match sight. It gives a better precision to the gunner when a Stock is mounted. I don't know exactly, but I think you can clip this Sight up like a Lyman-sight... These Guns where made for 3 different miliary services: The short one is made for Infanterie to fight in trenches. You need a small gun there The middel one is made for Artillery, to defend the position on distance. The long one was made for Cavalry, to make precision shooting with a small gun. The stock can be used as Holster. | |

| I would agree with what Dronne wrote.
Standard version of Parabellum (Infantry) had simple iron sights, Marine version had flip sights (two positions) and Artillery one had tangental (?) sights in a different location. Modelguns apparently copied this differences, not just barrel length.
I don't have a good book about that pistol, only a shorter P08 monograph that only makes a brief mention of sights, without providing further details (sometimes differences between various army units are just politics, sometimes they are well justified).

| Thanks guys ! I did a little reading, and it seems the marine version has the longest sight base in this configuration, I had seen the two position sight on real guns, but it seems a little smaller than on the MGC one? I had not seen an MGC with those parts Now question in the picture below the "center 2 marine lugers have these sight... but the lower one is like mine and the one above more like the real guns I have seen ???? Question why two types of rear sight ?? how does this compare to real versions?? I cannot find a real one with the Bigger rear sight ? what were MGC copying ?? Thanks again | |

| Hmmm, I know that the "Pistole 08" was not only build by LUGER , may be an other Manufactor has build a Marine-Version with this sight? Or the pre-owner of your Gun build this sight on it...?
P.S. I' am very sorry, I was wrong! Of cause Dronne is right!!
Is it possible to use real Magazins in this Modelgun? There are these nice Drummags......

| Hi, Don't be sorry, errare humanum est. Here is a link about Parabellum pistols, given by Cerwyn : http://www.lugerforum.com/I'm not sure that real magazines can fit with replicas, because the position of the locking hole, but why not to try? Old MGC magazines fit correctly with Marushin's replicas. | |

| Hey guys!
Thank you all for the info. This is just what I have been looking for for my MGC Lugers. I was aware of the different sights and was going to make one for a Luger that was missing one. Now it will be easier...... once I finish the MG34 bolt for Aussie, and my Luger and Buntline Colt display boxes! I've been busy since November with Military re-enactment displays - but now they have ended I can concentrate on my Modelguns again!
I just bout a PLASTIC MGC Luger with a missing magazine .... does anyone have a spare please? No problems shipping to NZ.

| Johnny,
Nice collection - is the arty on the left in your assembly pic, one with the trigger action? - you pull the trigger and mechanism recoils as if firing - I found one here at a gunshow and bought it and it's the only one I've seen.
It has the forward resting position of the trigger like yours, otherwise it is the same as any other MGC replica.

Is it possible to use real Magazins in this Modelgun? There are these nice Drummags...... Georg Luger designed the pistol, none of the factories making the gun was called "Luger". For some reason Americans decided to call the P08 "Luger" when "Parabellum" would be a more proper name... Anyway, I own both a RMI/MGC modelgun and a real Pistole 08. The regular mags are interchangeable. Don't know about the Trommelmagazin - they are scarce and seriously expensive though. I believe you can get five MGC Lugers for the price of an authentic trommel mag, unless you can find a repro.

| Hm, "Parabellum" is the Company Motto of the " Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken AG , Berlin" ITs from latin: "Si vis pacem, para bellum" = "Do you want peace, prepare for war" Short form = Parabellum..... I Know, there is a american Comany wich build the P08 in remake. I Know, too, that there are a lot of Books on Market wich called these Gun "Luger-Pistol" Most of these Books are from USA... | |

| Yes, DWM were the first to manufacture Gaorg Luger's design, presenting what would be both the Parabellum pistol as well as the Parabellum ammunition (7,65 and 9 mm respectively.) | |
