| Post by jay851 right guys i may be going completely mad on this but i am sure i have seen somewhere that in the early days ( 70's ) mgc made a 50 rnd drum mag for their thompsons.is there any truth in this at all or have i been dreaming...... again.

| Post by Mark Unfortunately, MGC never made (at least that i know of) a drum that featured over 39 rds for the Thompson as the spring pressures would be a little to strong. It would have been great to let fly a full 50 rd drum in one though! Perhaps they might have even made a prototype... _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Mark Of course, a real drum will fit and function (somewhat) in an MGC. Infact the MGC 39 rounder drums where sold by AutoOrdnance in the 1970's for the new (for 1975) semi auto M1927A1 "Thompsons" and they worked ok in them. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Mark No actually, Both the 50 and the 39 round drums are fairly easy to get today due to the 50 rounders are being produced again after 15 years that and MGC is making the 39 round drums again. Yes, they did in fact make a 100 round drum But talk about heavy... _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Reemo MGC mags can work in a real gun without mods - but NOT vice-versa......
The new Auto Ordnance drum mags will NOT work with a MGC Thompson without brutal modification of the metal "vains" that turn the bullets - the bolt catches the tops of these vains or "fingers". Its a huge pain - just stick to the genuine MGC drums.
PS.... Those genuine Thompson trademarks are appealing on the Auto Ordnance drums....BUT.....Switching MGC guts into a Auto Ordnance drum is not possible - the main spindle diameter is completely different. (Consequently the hole punched into the lid is 2 different sizes too). Wont work. _________________ "This is your life......and its ending one minute at a time." | |

| Post by jay851 hi reemo thats a shame, would have been nice to rattle 100 off the ad in the link i posted says 'rare genuine mgc 50 rnd drum mag' could this be true or is it just referring to the mag being a 'replica' 50 rnd mag. jay _________________ currently own: hudson m3a1 greasegun mgc early type open barrel thompson smg kokusai s&w military/police 4" bull barrel | |
