Hudson Mad Max - Repainting? Empty

Can anyone recommend a method to make the barrels of the Hudson Mad Max sawnoff look less shiny and plastic. I have some matte paint for airsoft guns but think that also might be too unrealistic a finish- tips? ideas?

Try clear lacquer in matt (e.c. Tamiya PS-55 or others).
The matt clear varnish ensures that the light will not be reflected much.
