The third custom case, and second self made was a somewhat bigger job.
I was buying a fine example of Tanaka (Browning) m1897 pump gun
As I was browsing the net for the history of this significant gun and its history I just had to have it in a picnic style case - maybe thinking of picnic in (Belleau) woods
Just as my UZI case I planned for 4 sides
With bottom and lid
Now with a closed box (without modelgun inside) I was cut open, and luckily there was just room for this classic inside.
As I was making the spacer to ensure the gun would not bump around inside the case I fount that there was just room for 4 cardboard boxes of ammo – and the dummy Tanaka bayonet in the lid.
Here is the closed case with some string wrapped around the handle for comfort
And a last pic of the open case, resting open because the I figured out that the 4 small feet could also work to hold the lid open, just past vertical.
