PostSubject: It is time to let them go.   It is time to let them go. Icon_minitimeSat Oct 07, 2017 10:44 am

I regularly drop in to this site daily to take a look, but have been quiet over the years for a reason.
And that being that the gun laws (including replica model guns) have been under review for about 2 years here, and depending on what the final outcome could be, it could make them illegal to own unless permits or licensing is done. And the cost of applications are getting very expensive.
If the laws are to change, it could make me a criminal overnight. That is how bad it seems to be getting.

In fact, there have been raids on legitimate collectors and suppliers recently, where blank firers have been confiscated until the law has basically decided what they want to do.
Whenever there is a crime committed here, guns are often shown in the media. And quite often those guns are replicas of some sort.
And very recently, the federal Govt has had a gun amnesty over a 3 month period. In the news, they say how good it is to get these guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals, yet photos of these handed in guns often show replicas or imitation guns.

So I have decided to get out of my collection, as it is becoming too hard.
These have been part of my life and now they are gone. Sad

really sorry to hear that mate, it always seems the innocent are the ones who get penalized. its the same over here they did it with real firearms first, made pistols and semi auto rifles illegal and gave no one any compensation for having to hand them in. I can see it happening to blank firers, airsoft and modelguns over here at some stage. Airsoft has been attacked several times and now over here any full auto model firing over 1 joule becomes a section 5 firearm (a real gun) for F***s sake really! probably makes pea shooters a section 5 now.

In some states of Australia, if you own a replica/imitation/model gun, and depending on what that gun is, they need to be deactivated and stored in an approved gun cabinet. What the hell? They are a toy!

I'm sorry to see your post Oz'
It's a sad state of affairs when what are, essentially, toys and scale models become the target of well intention'd but miss guided politicians.

These replica model guns that I sold, I was given a decent offer and thought that I should take it.
I still have a fair few left which I might keep, including my Shoei MG42.
