I know that it has been mentioned on this forum before about using bb gun parts to create model guns, such as metal top slides etc. but these threads tend to refer to semi automatics. I was wondering if anybody has tried to do it with a revolver? You can get metal frames and barrels for many different models of revolver, and as the mechanics are really in the cartridges (at least with the new kousai revolvers anyway) or the cylinder, I would have thought it would be fairly easy to do. You would obviously need the hammer to function normally in order to detonate the cartridge, but as these are not usually included in the metal frame kits that shouldnt be a problem as long as the spring housing etc will accept the model gun version. Then it should simply be a case of popping in the modelgun cylinder? Has anybody tried this?

That's interesting and I also wish to know if anyone tried this.
However, I only find the metal frame + barrel kit for Tanaka revolver (airsoft) and they are very expensive. But we know Tanaka do not make any modelgun revolver.
So I'm very doubtful if these metal frame / barrel kits for Tanaka airsoft revolver could fit the modelgun revolvers made by Kokusai or MGC.
I may be wrong. I'm particularly interested in the M36, M10.

I was wondering also, whether if the cylinder was not interchangeable, whether the cartridges could still be used, as some bb revolvers use a cartridge system to fire, but with only the hammer changed to detonate the cartridge?

Yeah the tanak revolvers all have metal cylinders anyway as the cylinder stores the gas to it has to be.
