if we are talking technically ...then you are technically taking a IF (imitation firearm) and converting it into a RIF (realisitc) .. this would be covered by the VCR act of " Manufacture " of a RIF .......... difficult for them to follow up on but possible and technically against the VCR unless you have a specific defense .

kinda like going over 70 on the motorway ...all well and good until you get caught VCRA - Page 5 Icon_wink

I think if you could prove the part you were importing was to replace a part on a weapon like for like ..i.e a realistic looking slide on a pre OCT owned RIF then you are covered ... if they thought you were importing a realistic looking part to replace a part on a brightly coloured gun then thats were the problems may start .
Like I say very difficult to follow up but technically possible and my view is that these ****ards will only require the slightest provocation to remove someone's collection .

HMC have various tactics they use to stop items getting through ...one is the description of goods and value ...if they can argue the description is not adequate they are entitled to keep the goods ..same goes for value .

Until a few test cases have been to court no-one really knows what the reaction is going to be .

Of course if you import the spare part brightly coloured then no probs
