Post by Phobus Well , I got my Wa Shan SIG 220 today
Saturday.
Was sent via speedpost whom I remember form my airsoft days were always crap as regards Customs attention / fees .
I was not wrong on this occasion either !!
So on my day off I had to hammer over to the far side of Leeds ( nightmare )1 hour in the car , and que for 30 minutes to pay a £22 customs fee at Parcelforce HQ
the gun was in a jiffy bag but the original box is substantial and holds the gun nicely - plain brown card with sig badges and polystyrene base .
It appeared to be unmolested as the clear plastic was in place around the gun and not a fingerprint or scratch to be seen . Hurray !! with 6 rds and loading tool plus dodgy Taiwan paperwork .
The gun itself is very impressive as a few people had told me already on here. Very heavy - unloaded , and quality attention to detail . Even a working decock lever which I was not expecting and a metal barrel .
The barrel blockage / detonator is deep and not at all obvious which is brill and the gun has an overall air of quality which you would expect of the real steel because SIG is a quality brand . I was surprised to find the mag only a single stacker - only 9 rds . The gun has minimal but nice and authentic looking markings . I don,t like the mag release on the heal of the butt.
Nasty .
On the negative side , loading the ( unloaded ) rds to check feed I found the gun not particularly willing to chamber the cartridge . It seemed to not allow the rd to move up the ramp into the chamber . Maybe it needs a bit of gentle work with a file or lubricating first , I,m not sure but allowing the slide to fly forward under spring pressure did chamber the rd so maybe live firing will smooth it out ok ?
On the whole and for the money ( about £140 with fees ) I think this is a lovely modelgun and as regards weight and solidity second only to my blank firers . A few people have mentioned to me about things breaking on their Wa Shan model guns and I am a bit worried about this because the gun does have a slight feeling of being ' delicate ' which is strange when you consider the full metal construction
.
I would buy another Wa Shan though and may well do so before VCR . I like the Colt .25 auto and the dinky little .22 mag Derringer which are both the same price from UN Company - just a bit cheaper than the Sig but very unusual and with that full metal construction which is so rare nowadays .
Regards CARL.
