| Post by Stinger Hello My next modelgun purchase (not in the very near future - but soon enough) is leaning towards a Tanaka Glock 17. I like the design (very simple). Therefor I need to do some research and any info would be great. I know that two versions where made - the newst one being slightly more heavy - but the older one (according to modelguncollector) being better quality. Any info about the differences between the versions? How is the build quality? Would it be possible to fit a metal slide (RS perhaps?) Finally - what version is the one currently sold by modelgun.co.uk http://www.modelguns.co.uk/glock_17.htm Thanks | |

| Post by 2sharp I bought one recently, i wasn't too impressed by the quality of it. I'm definitely a "glock-man" but it just felt, uhm?, wrong? It looks nice, very nice, but it just feels too heavy in the frame, glocks are rather top-heavy. If you're interested i'm looking to sell it, i live close to Lund so shipping would be quick and easy Can of course take a bunch of pics if you're interested, and make sure which version i have. _________________ I need more model guns... | Post by Stinger Thanks a lot. I might be interested. However - I'm going on a 1-2month travel in a week. So it would have to be after that.
But you say that the quality isn't good - can you describe this problem? Does it have wobble or make noices? Or is it just the weight thats the problem (too heavy?)
I was wondering if I should (and could) fit a RS metal slide - this way it might get the right weight proportions.

No worries, if you want it i'll stow it away for you, just PM me Not wobbly, nothing noisy really. If anything it makes the wrong noice to me, it goes *klickety-klick* when you release the slide as opposed to *ka-klong* as the RS Glock does. (dunno how much sense that made...) It just doesn't feel "right". You know, some model guns feels right, some doesn't. Maybe i shouldn't say that the quality isn't good, it just doesn't feel right to me (i've been working/carrying extensively with a RS Glock the last 5 months so that might explain it to a certain degree) No idea on fitting an airsoft metal slide, i think it'd be quite difficult to do, you need to remove the "breachblock" from the plastic slide and get it attached to the metal slide etc. It could be done though... maybe i'm just not the one to do it

| Post by Stinger Sounds good. No modelgun can compare to the real thing. But as long as the quality is good - I'm in. I'll give it a thought and get back to you.
And about the slide - I was think about installing a RS (real steel - not airsoft) slide.

And about the slide - I was think about installing a RS (real steel - not airsoft) slide. RS, of course, apparently i cannot read properly I just tried with an RS slide, won't fit, the Tanaka frame is slightly too wide. I didn't force it but i think it would cause issues as the firing pin spring is stronger on the RS slide. It sounds like an interesting project though

| Post by Phobus Hey Guys ,
How does the Tanaka shoot btw ?
I only ask because there has been numerous threads on here discussing reliability issues / trigger breakages etc with tanaka models .
Do a search and you will see for yourself .

I have no idea really, i got it, didn't really like it and put it away I don't fire my modelguns very much, i'm too lazy to clean them and i get so annoyed when they jam that i get headaches.. I do remember reading about them issues though. It'd be interesting to hear about other peoples experiences of performance and durability though.
